It rained on me Yeah!

I got rained on my 40 mile commute.
Last time was September. Yes I ride my bicycle daily.

I hear all these things falling on me I was like what the heck is that. Scared the crap out of me.
Then I realized it was raining.

Best part it rained blocks from my house and only sprinkles.

My favorite commutes are in the winter when heavy snow is just starting to fall, but the roads aren't covered too deeply yet. All that white stuff coming down is just magical and when I get home (or to work) and brush the inch accumulation off my head and shoulders, I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Although, riding in a good, heavy downpour is also a rush.

I like riding in the rain when it's warm, and in the snow when it's cold. In the rain when it's cold kind of sucks, but at least I'm on a bike.
Actually riding in freezing rain is kind of fun; it's only cold for a minute or two, then you get a layer of ice that keeps more water from soaking in (I have a waterproof jacket but not pants). The fun part comes when you get to work, pull up to the entrance where the smokers are dying, get off the bike, and shake your jacket, and 1/4 inch of ice breaks off and falls to the pavement. By now the smokers know I'm odd, but this puts me into the "avoid" category

I was like, WTF? Never been rained on? Then I saw your location. It all makes sense now.

Yes, like that. Except you need big, fat snowflakes actively falling heavily enough to hear them crashing through the trees and partially obscuring your vision while collecting on your eyebrows.

Those are wonderful. Plus, if it is dark and in the evening with fireplaces going..... even better. Just need a cup of hot cocoa.

I rode on mostly wet roads and occasional sprinkles this past Sunday morning. I got very dirty from all the road grime being sprayed up.

Haven't had rain during my commute since Oct. 17, 2005. Over 1 year ago, 192 days of dry commuting!

Al

I forgot, the roads in Denver were wet this morning. Not due to rain but the chemical treatment for the incoming storms. yuck!

We have the opposite going on now - the dry season is finally here - for 3 WEEKS it was solid rain (always like that during change over) - now I am getting used to riding on dry surfaces again. Pavement, good, loose gravel - a little dicey.

But, our rain is warm, so I tend to like it.

It's especially nice at dusk or dawn when your lights reflect on the snow / rain drops. On a stormy ride in October a wind blast had me riding though hundreds of falling yellow leaves on our MUP. Very surrealistic.

Nice snow pic. I like night MUP riding in snow. No cars to deal with, and it sure is pretty. ("My" MUP is largely empty when I ride home in the winter.)

You might need to lube your chain if you wax it.
