I think Ol' Micah does a good job on these lists, qualifying his opinions and such.
The scenario is that you have two kilobucks to spend on an eBike in his list. If you don't spend the whole amount on the bike, you can spend the change on outfitting it to meet your needs/tastes.
Which one are you going with and why? Assume you have what you already have, and this is ANOTHER eBike.
For my part, I'm going with the dual battery Lectric Expedition ($1800) and the matching panniers.

My first stop on-budget would be the Ride1Up Roadster, then I skip all the way to the over-budget Priority Current to find one I'd consider owning. It would be a bomber of a city bike but nowhere near the 70+ pounds of some of those whales. Plus belt drive.

I'd buy the Ride 1Up Roaster V2, and since I was given $2k, I would try putting a TSDZ2B middrive on the BB and losing the hub motor. Might run OK on 36V7AH. Might disappoint.
OK, let's think more clearly. Gimme the Aventon Soltera.2, but only in yellow. It's $1199. I'm going to raise the handlebars, add a rack, cupholder, mirror, front bag and rear saddlebags,

Nothing on that list in that price range I would buy, but Gazelle Medeo T9 City. would be at 2k not a great bike but Bosch Equipped and made by Gazelle who has fantastic warranty support so any easier choice.
