Redundant cable holes
A new gravel bike with only one front chain ring has cable holes in the frame to accommodate two.
any ideas about how to fill these to stop water ingress?

Depending on the frame manufacturer you can see if they have a plug. I know Cannondale has frame grommets available for some of their frames for just such a situation.

I would just measure the hole diameter and then search for suitably sized small rubber blanking plugs. There is bound to be something on Amazon.

Usually they will have a plug for it however in your case it could be FD compatible or maybe something for a dropper post which are becoming quite popular on gravel stuff. If they don't have the plugs you could potentially use some silicone to fill the hole in the current plug.

Read my above comment you are only putting it on the plug already there and if no plug already existing then I would maybe make your own and put the silicone on something and let it cure and then cut it to shape giving a small outside lip.

Might just leave them open so that there is airflow to let moisture escape quickly from all the other places moisture gets in. Even if it's a CF bike, you don't want moisture accumulating inside.

Must be symmetrical
I use bee's wax to fill vent holes and unused braze ons. You can mix up any color.

Ahhh then I would do the second thing and make a plug outside of the frame and trim to fit. Odd they didn't use some sort of plug...ah well, silly frame makers. Usually they come with plugs of some sort or sell them. I know Specialized had a bunch of them for their gravel frames for various configurations because we had to research it and get some. I have seen them from other builders as well.
Also to mention me use the @ symbol and then my handle so it will show Jayaydee but will read as @username. It will help out quite a bit in letting people know when you are quoting them.

I think my best interim move is to use som helitape to cover the holes and then see what they come up with.
ive already had to buy four bottle cage bolts to use in empty pannier and bag hole on the frame. But of course no thread in the cable holes😡

Surprised it didn't come with things to fill hole. My frame if go full wireless or Di2 or mechanical came with rubber things to to accommodate whatever build you choose.

Some frames have an oval-ish hole that will take a cable grommet or a blank grommet.
I've taken a cable grommet and filled it with epoxy, trimmed it down to look nice and a quick coat of matching paint.
Other frames have a simple hole, more commonly with CF frames. If the hole is perpendicular to the surface of the frame (and it's usually NOT) then a simple silicon plug will do.
In reality, most of the simple cable ports penetrate the frame around a 15-25 degrees, so if the manufacturer of the frame doesn't have a solution, you get to make one.
Permanent solution: carefully apply a thick epoxy and cover it with masking tape until cured.
Less permanent: Thick silicon sealant, cover with masking tape to it cures nice and flush.

Put a cork in it. It's not a joke, although it sounds like one, but something you can really do. Cut a small piece of cork and mallet it in.

Lots of good advice. If it were my bike, first I would put some anti corrosion goo is the frame, then consider which of the excellent suggestions to implement. Unless I could find some nice redundant cables.
