Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No Offense, but that yellow tape is pretty grody and scary looking

The Blue wrapped one looks wrapped the wrong way and will peel back the edges over time.

Now that Motobecane with the Leather wrap is absolutely beautiful

My first bicycle love was in 1974 when I saw a Gold Motobecane (Grand Sport I think) at a LBS that had that leather wrapped bar. I remember the owner showing the bike to me, even though he knew I could not afford it, he was probably as much in love with that bike as i was as he showed all it's features to me.

Gawd I loved that thing and dreamt about owning something like that some day.

That Leather wrap bar is the best, and an Icon for me.

I agree Viper: That tape IS due for replacement & it's not even a year old. Now that our Winter rains have started, I'm not riding much beside my daily commute, so I can spend some quality garage time. I wrap the bars on my commuters that way on purpose so I don't need to tape the ends by the stem. I'm a little guy & the tape doesn't peel back much before it gets worn out. That Moto was my attempt to recreate a bike I lusted after back in the 70's. I found the frame on eBay & accumulated some good French stuff over time. Probably better than the original now & I take it along for a rider when we travel. Don

I can't believe there are 5 pages of this, moreover, I can't believe I'm putting mine up, but what the heck.

This was this summer, since this I've gone to black FiZiK tape, and I've added the Astrale 8 computer to go with the Polar.

I was really thinking about cockpit, but during the time I didnt want to get any "ewww" jokes because we werea t the time talking about pube hair, so I thought this was more appropriate

I just got my new Night Raptor. My DH said that it looked like a motorcycle light, he seen me 2 blocks away.

BTW, I know why most computers are on the right, it is because most people are right handed. I would have mine on the left, but I didn't put that one on, the LBS guy did it.

Since it is BT enabled, I use it to rcv calls. (Children @ home alone.) One ear is plugged in for MP3. Use it for quick ride photos /videos - on the go or while admiring the scenery/route. Use KMaps to locate where I'm and if I can take a deviation. (With the upcoming GPS capability hopefully I will not need the Cyclocomputer in the future.). Full browser capability. Plus on weekdays, stop after 1/2 hour of ride or so & attend to emails if they are v.imp. (the last is a stretch, but if I know my 'presence' is required @ work and I'm out 'enjoying' a.k.a exercising, this gives me a chance to respond.). Plus more. All in all, one truly versatile device.

I took my camera on my Saturday morning ride just so I could post these. It turned out to be one the nicest mornings in quite a while, so I took a few extra picutres.

These are some Oak Trees tunnels in Modjeska Canyon (Santiago Canyon, CA)

This is the at the top of the Modjeska Canyon climb

I never noticed before, but I've passed the Shimano building countless time, it's a terrible photo.

Some club out for their Saturday morning ride
