The DB replaced by a Thorn this year after 27 years service. Fair weather commuting duty (20 miles each way), with the occasional two - three day credit card touring.

Got this Frejus a couple weeks ago. Smooth rider. And there is something about steel cranks that I really like.

Best ride I've ever straddled. Been a couple changes since this pic -- new crank, better wheels, wider bar.

Both bike are self built. I started with a frame and started buying parts. Kinda expensive doing it that way, but I now own two perfect dream bikes that are perfect for me. All my other bikes are now just "My other bikes".

Who You Callin' Old!!!

Who you callin' old!!! 69 going on 35!

Me on my 1984 Holdsworth Reynolds 753 taken several years ago...

I started my Goldilocks pursuit for the "perfect" riding and handling bike back in 1975. Over the past few years I've found a number of Goldilocks bikes.

This is my all time favorite: a 1988 Peugeot Biarritz with a Super Vitus 980 frame and a last generation Shimano 600 gruppo. I got in on eBay in almost new condition!

Number 2, a 1984 Gitane Super Corsa that I originally put together with a mishmash of parts to use as a wet weather beater.

1992 Paramount OS. This was one of the last "Schwinn" built Paramount frames before they went under. It had been sitting in an LBS from 1992 until I bought it in 2010.

1990 Bianchi Mondial. Another frame that had been sitting in an LBS since 1990. Columbus SLX with mixed vintage Campy components.

1985 Raleigh USA Team Pro. Built in the UK at Raleigh's Ilkeston SBDU shop. Repainted by Raleigh USA in 1980s Team Technium colors. Suntour Superb gruppo, Reynolds 753.

1973 Holdsworth Competiozone in team kit. Probably made of Reynolds 531 straight gage tubing. Weighs a ton but rides and handles great!

1983 Colnago Super. Campy free zone except for the hubs and seatpost!

1988 Colnago Technos

1990s Gitane Team Bike. Frame was raced in Europe. I put on a mishmash of Shimano components. Columbus ELSO oversize tubing.

1981 Bianchi Campione Del Mondo

1974 Motobecane Grand Jubile. Rescued from a dump and put together as a beater.

There are others but I like the ride and handling on these the best.
