Once you get past that first part, it's gravy (pretty much!)

I practice other weird habits, but nobody wants to see a book here.
I'm riding flats, but after I more or less accidentally did 100k in April where the only time my foot touched the ground was about halfway when I stopped to pick up a water bottle I'd dropped I've tried to beat that. On Monday I rode 100 miles with some planned stops in the first half, I would have done the second 50 miles without touching down if a bee hadn't flown into my helmet about mile 88.

You must have a very happy (Jenn, look away) prostate. May your good fortune continue.

As I ride along I compose my ride-report email that I never write or send. And I try to find a curb to make it easier to get on and off the bike. Yeah, I'm pretty beat up.

I make a note of potential and actual personal relief areas for future reference.

Given the history of my digestive system having a perverse sense of humor and my desire for full hydration, on my former commute I had a mental list of "abort modes" where there was a good chance of finding nearby available facilities within a mile of my route, which varied by time and other factors (secure parking at location, is permission/code/purchase needed, is it an active biohazard site, etc.) I still do so to some degree on my club group ride routes.

Yesterday was my first ride home from the co-op in several months. I was very pleased to see that a number of homeowners were engaged in remodeling projects utilizing free-range portajons (not behind gates or fences) for the work crews. And nicely spaced as well.

I have been known to put in some ‘fastest times’ when trying to reach these areas.

When I ride now, I feel unsafe w/o my 3rd eye rear mirror clipped to my sunglasses. I'm in Honolulu & all my riding starts in town so there's dedicated bike lanes & lots of shared lanes along w/ lots of cars. That reassuring quick glance behind me goes along way in keeping me feeling safe on the road.
