Nervex lugs, forged simplex dropouts, smells frenchy

I recently acquired this frame. I know nothing about it. (The badge is mine...a golf ball marker) I can see it has nervex lugs, forged simplex dropouts, a french threaded bottom bracket and a semi-squared-off headtube cap w/ 2 vertical badge holes. Note the spur on the forged dropouts, I've seen this on a few 60's Peugeot's. The serial # is engraved in the bottom bracket shell 750322. Any ideas?

Look at some of the recent threads on Peugeot PX-10's, I'm pretty sure that's what you've got.

Scrape the paint off a bit near the rear dropouts and see if there is any chrome. Chrome would be a strong nod to a PX-10...

The "spur' was used well into the '70s. My '74 PA10 has one.

The bike was sandblasted and primed when I got it. I sprayed it black.

I think that the Nervex lugs eliminate both the PA and PR. The PA is easy to spot by the skinny seatpost.

Could be as suggested a Peugeot, but I have owned and have seen other French bikes which have nervex and those very same do's which are most definitely not Peugeot. So, I'll bet you will never get a formal ID on that frame. Going to build it up with some simplex delrin, Mafac centerpulls, stronglight 52/42cranket? That's the typical configuration for frames like that. A five speed Atom or Maillard unit would be par for the course too.

Somebody with better memory than me will know if that DO is built for a specific make of derailleur.

The cable stop on chain stay and seat stay cap look Peugeot. Check the seattube inside diameter. Should be 26.4 or 26.6. I think it is a PX10.

That Simplex DO was made for a Simplex derailer, as was used on all PX10's.

Looks very PX10-ish. How about a pic of the head and under the BB?

I hope you don't mean the chrome. It may have been too rusty to save.

The chrome stays on My Carlton were pitted so deeply that I had to use filler.

We have a winner!!!

I did notice that someone ground off 'Simplex' from the rear dropouts. Perhaps they ground off the DT shifter tab as well?

Whatever it is, you're going to enjoy riding it.

miamijim, are you sure that absence of that little bit is proof that it is not a Peugeot?

No, its not proof but I think whoever ground off 'Simplex' also ground off the the tab. I think it is a Peugeot PX10

Yikes, no French parts??!! There are enough out there still sold as NOS parts but be aware that some proprietary sizes and threading needed for classic Peugoets might be a bit harder to find...... French or Swiss threaded BBs, skinny seatposts and stems/handlebars, narrow rear hub spacing, proprietary derailleur hanger that might work only with Simplex derailleurs.....etc....etc...etc.....
Happy Hunting and keep us posted on the build-up!

PM me if youre interested in french parts.

I've got a bin full of Peugeot parts including ATAX stems, BB's, etc...I can sell you a complete set of parts to build the bike if you'd like.

If I want to rock a Sugino RD2 single speed crank in this Peugeot, will a 103mm bottom bracket fit? I'm looking at a french threaded BB by Velo Orange...
https://www.velo-orange.com/grcrufrthbob.html

What kind of seat post clamp does this frame use? (see picture)

Why is the lip on the headtube kinda squared and not perfectly round (see picture)?

Thanks.

Look at the RD2 page on Velo Orange. It tells you that it requires a 103mm BB.

You need a seat post bolt, not a clamp.

I can't tell you anything about the lip, except that it's not going to make any difference in use.
