44mm wheels good or too small for an aero bike?
Currently have some stock 50mm wheels on my aero bike and while they are fine I did want a 2nd wheelset and because the 50mm are 1660g
Just bought a pair of 44mm 1352g wheelset w/ carbon spokes. Is 44mm too small for an aero bike or is that .23" of an inch not a problem. I live in the North East where there are a decent amount of hills
I should note I am a lighter ride at sub 140lbs

I ride 35s on my aero bike and I think they're a good compromise between speed on the flats and lightness on the climbs. I also got tired of fighting cross winds when I used to run 45s.

You called it an aero bike not a light bike. But seriously, you need to consider the conditions you ride in. High winds. frequent climbs, and generally slow riding (like I tend to do nowadays) tend to favor light weight (shallower rims). Calm winds, flat routes, and fast riding tend to favor deeper rims. Anything around 40-50 seems to be a compromise middle ground.

Between 44mm wheels & 50mm wheels, I'm not sure how much it really matters. Everyone else will be on 584 or 622.
