This is my friend's bike that got run over a couple months ago. Amazingly, most of the parts are ok. I got hit back in the early '80s and experienced the same thing - destroyed wheels and frame but most of the group was OK.

CAADs are excellent bikes. I've owned a couple in my time, a silver CAAD9 and then a matte black CAAD8, when they were called R1000. Same colorway as this "Retro build" photo I just found. What an awesome bike that was! Light, stiff and just handled so well. I miss that thing. Maybe if/when my crappy Venge Elite 2016 bites the dust, I'll build one up as my racing bike instead of a modern carbon spaceship.

this reminds me. We had my 88 nissan king cab 4wd for six years in the coastal southern belizean rainforest. The hitch welded itself to the receiver. We had the truck chained to a tree and the hitch chained to a tractor and a brave stupid fool soul in the middle with a sledgehammer. Nothing.

I use one of those to avoid using a tacky regular unit in a front window of the house. Indeed they do work well.
