The road turned to gravel but I thought it wasn't that long so I forged ahead. Flatted a couple miles later and discovered I only had one spare tube. so I walked 3 miles until I got back to pavement. After replacing the tube, my cleats were mostly destroyed from the gravel road so I had to be easy on the pedals all the way home.
I've since gone tubeless but carry two extra tubes, and a patch kit, just in case.

And how did you feel physically after the fact? So I've been riding approximately 1 year 4 months to date. My most recent ride at the 52 mile mark. In that time frame I've only experienced a single flat a couple blocks from home. Today, I set out for a 45 mile ride when my luck ran out 13 miles from home totally unprepared forgot to take at least the cell. So, no problem I'll just walk. after a few miles the previously damaged cartilage in my right knee became painful finally ankle's, feet ,every thing. 3 blocks from home I literally was unable to walk. Finally thank goodness 8 hours later the wife pulls up. Anyone else care to share their stories?? Edit: I later heard my AAA card would've covered it. Edit: sorry for the typo in the title "IS" as opposed "IN".

I've walked a couple miles in my socks years ago, and more recently got a double puncture (pot hole) a 1/4 mile from the end of my ride.
But this thread reminds me of a saint who stopped to help me once and gave me a ten-mile ride home, way out of his way. I'll never forget it. I was mid 50s, he was a mid 20s farm boy in a big diesel Ram, and just the kindest young person I'd ever met. I'll never forget that. He would not accept a dime for fuel.

I think it was about 6 miles. I was riding my CX bike, went through a spare tube and three CO2 canisters over the course of the ride. I was at the very farthest northwest tip of Fairmount Park when the last flat happened and it was getting dark. I walked all the way to 19th and Chestnut in near dark and caught the shop I worked at still open, but just about to close.
