Convert 142mm hub to fit 135mm dropouts
I have a Bontrager Paradigm Comp 25 disc rear wheel, this is 142mm x 12mm thru axle. The end caps on this wheel are removeable.
I want to find adapters/end caps to use this wheel in 135mm dropouts as a standard QR.
Trek has QR endcaps available and the links are below. However, I was unsure if they would work. I called Trek and explained what I wanted to do, and they are unsure if these ends caps merely convert a 142mm thru axle to a 142mm QR. They said, "try 'em and see if they'll work, you can always return them within 30 days."
Bontrager Rapid Drive 5mm Drive Side Axle End Cap - Trek Bikes (CA)
Bontrager Rapid Drive Centerlock 5mm Non-Drive Axle End Cap - Trek Bikes (CA)
Before I go through all that, does anyone out there know? OR does anyone know of an option to convert?
Thank you.

Before you go further make a few measurements to be sure it's even possible, and what else would be involved.
To start with, hubs are generally configured with minimum freewheel clearance. So most or all of the 7mm would have to come off the left side. That would mean redishing the wheel.
Then is there 7mm of dead space on the left, and will the brake mounts allow for a disc in that position? Don't guess, measure.
Unless it's a CF frame, you might consider spreading the rear triangle to fit the wheel. This is fairly easy as a DIY, or the price at a shop shouldn't be high.
So, measure, consider ALL the options, consider other implications, then start shopping parts.

No, you just pop off the TA endcaps and pop on the QR endcaps. Et viola, they are now QR 135. Many cartridge hubs work like this. You don't have to redish anything much less bend the frame

Does your 135mm QR bike have disc brakes?
Barry
BTW - the reason I ask is this is a disk brake wheel. Rim brakes require a brake track on the rim, that I believe this wheel does not have.

IF THIS is the correct wheel.
Go to "Service"
and
You will find the SPEC SHEET for the front and rear wheels.
in there you will find the 5mm endcaps and their part numbers.
Be sure to check I found YOUR wheel and not an alternate

However, I called Trek to ask if they would work as I was uncertain if this would convert a 142mm hub to fit a 135mm dropout. I have a suspicion that they merely convert a 142mm TA to a 142mm QR. The person I talked to at Trek stated, ""try 'em and see if they'll work, you can always return them within 30 days."
So, I am asking if anyone might know if they work OR if there is another, perhaps generic, option.

Whoops... I never even considered that those 5mm endcaps might create a 142mm QR wheel.
Is a 142mm QR even a thing?

It's harder to find retail parts for OEM stuff. This might be some Joytec hub, but no idea really without digging into it. If this were a DT Swiss hub you'd have a lot more trust. But those parts will do it. If you compare the photos to what you have in hand you can see they are narrower where they should be.

It should work. A rear wheel that has removable end caps and both QR 135 end caps and 142 TA end caps available, which yours apparently has, will work on a 135 QR frame or a 142 TA frame. The wheel should need no modifcation other than having the correct end caps installed to match the frame. 142 TA frames have a bit of the "dropout" removed (3.5mm each side) to allow the end of the 142 TA hub to be installed. 142 TA wheels accomplish nothing in regard to being a "less dished" rear wheel compared to a 135 QR wheel. The 135 QR frame will obviously have a flush dropout on the inside faces with 135mm between the dropouts. Again, the 142mm measurement is accomplished by having a 3.5mm recess on each side.
Lots and lots of wheels come this way nowadays, with removable end caps to accomodate 135 or 142 with the same rear wheel. And just in case you have something weird that doesn't fit this convention, just return the end caps as Trek said.

Is 142mm QR even a thing? I guess there was such a thing called Boost QR which was a 141mm QR standard, but they are not common. Some reading on the Internet revealed (also what well biked posted above) that because 135mm QR is measured OLD whereas 142mm is measured end-end, they're actually the same width. I would take a gamble on the QR endcaps posted.
