Cleatus’ new HardRock
Glad you got one coming your way! It’s been a blast to work on. This generation of bikes is really a great way to start. Nothing tricky so long as you have the tools you need (cone wrench, freewheel tool, etc). I just took the advice of those on this thread and everything went great! One piece of advice I’m glad I followed: don’t go down the “upgrade” rabbit hole, as compatibility issues will surely follow. I say clean, check all bearings/cones, and give the drivetrain and cables whatever love they need. I’m sure it will prove to be a solid purchase. Cheers!

Tempting “upgrade”
For example, I just for these tasty Mavic CrossLink wheels which are 26”. I thought about putting them on the HardRock, but that means freewheel -> cassette and more purchases and tweaks. I’ll have to find another use for them...or wait

That '93 looks great! I have a '95 and even after sitting for years a little bit of cleanup had it running smoothly. I've got twist shifts on mine and have been contemplating moving to triggers but for now it's doing the job just fine.

Original
The bicyclebluebook.com site has 99% of bikes in their archives. Occasionally I'll come across something they don't have but it's rare.... but anyway, they have a picture and full, detailed component and parts list as it came from the factory.... is my go to for everything

Looks great.
Working on a couple 90s rockhoppers and a stumpy right now. Hope they turn out as nice.

Haha right?!? It was indeed good advice when I started. The bike resto bug got me good over the shutdown; so the bike evolved over the years as I got more experienced. Thanks for the kind words all!
