During my ride today, I got an idea: pink handlebar plugs and pink water bottles.

Buy a bag of M&Ms for ideas. Given the coral frame and pink hoods, you can't go wrong accessorizing an assortment of those colors.

The welds are too nice for it to be a genuine Cannondale.

GP4 rims are planned.
I could pass along some Benotto tape in a 3rd shade if you're interested.

Thanks but I'm proud of how I got my shellac (3 coats of clear) on white tape to match the Cinelli saddle. (Which BTW is very comfortable in a Concor sort of way.)

Sounds like there is a collective shrieking of purists, recoiling in horror at the offending clashing of colors.

I’m liking where this is going!

No, that just means it's an older Cannondale, I think.

The coral bike is very nice. Those magenta hoods, however, need to die in a fire.

(unless you can find a bike in that exact same color. Personally, I wouldn't.)

@pastorbobnlnh could probably make you some hoods out of whatever's slithering around outside this time of year.

Spoiler

In looking at photo more, teal accents might go good with the Coral. You know, a Miami Vice kinda thing. And these brakes:

According to the catalog, for 1986 only, the top three racing and top one touring frames were the Alumina Classic series of specially hand finished framesets.

Would black hoods be an acceptable solution... and prevent people from burning out their retinas? (I think these would fit?)

Now about that seat angle...

Seems to me that if such hoods are available NOS in any color you should be able to find a way to make repops in white. This would be the perfect opportunity before all the other NOS hoods are gone.

Classtime Just stumbled on this coral One-Shot on the Blick website. Might be a good match if you need touch-up paint...

(Probably looks better in person than from this "swatch.")

I think I can clear up at least one question… no, these hoods do not look any better in person, or in natural light.

I found myself sitting at the top of a hill this morning (at the “domes”), relaxing, recovering from the climb, enjoying the beautiful weather.
A rider then zips by, and I get a glimpse of the salmon colored frame as it goes by.
But once the rider makes the U turn at the end of the road, I am greeted by those rather loud pink brake hoods.
Yes, it was Classtime. Choking back the gag reflex, I introduced myself and mentioned about seeing “the hoods” on bikeforums.
Turns out he is a great guy, though some comments about Eroica and 45/21 gearing put me on guard.
On the other hand, the hoods were clean and like new!

This Cannondale is as comfortable on the road as any road racing bike. Yesterday I rode it 81 miles on 23mm GP4000s with 110psi and it felt awesome the whole way. It will ride even better with some 22mm Sprinters (Plus, it will look really cool). Cannondales are new to me. I had ridden nothing but vintage Steel and my Richard Sachs forever until this past spring when I found a ‘92 R600 to leave in North Texas for visits. I built that bike up stock with 25mm GP5000s at 100psi and for 60 mile rides on crappy TX roads, I had a great time.

Since I am old enough to remember 1955 Fords in coral & black, if it were mine, black tape, hoods & saddle.
