Does the UK have import taxes from Japan?
If not, the Tyrell bikes are probably the best minis from Japan but I would rather have a Moulton if I had a choice.
I had a Dahon Silvertip and it was an awesome bike.
I recommend you try and test ride one.

[QUOTE=ttakata73;15747641]Does the UK have import taxes from Japan?
Yes they do, it used to be anything valued above 40GBP will be taxed and usually they will add a very extortionate handling charge. My (Japanese) wife was charged nearly 160 quid when her brother sent her some (old) winter clothes to London. I've been charged for sending toys from here(Japan) to the UK, last time was 60pounds charge plus handling and storage charge. Without sounding rude British customs are the scum of the earth!
On the mini-velos though Bruno have just brought out an upmarket range called B-ant, very nice bikes they are too, well worth checking out. Have a look at these Japanese bike shops who specialize in small wheeled and folding bikes,

Amazon sells a MiniVelo.
https://www.amazon.com/Alton-Corsa-Sp...words=minivelo
Price is rather tempting. Even with upgrades, it should not cost that much.

That's actually a tempting project. Too bad it's not a freehub.

I'm wanting to buy a bike from Japan that's unavailable in the US. This thread was pretty helpful, but has anybody in the US actually used Rakuten or Amazon.co.jp and shipped a bike through Tenso.com successfully? Amazon.co.jp and the Rakuten seller I contacted said they would not ship directly. I set up a Tenso account, and have sent an inquiry to them to see if they will ship a folding bike. I'd like to hear of any potential problems (import taxes, import or export restrictions on bicycles, etc).
THanks

I've used Tenso.com in the past and its the way to buy from Japanese stores that won't ship abroad.
Its fast, secure and reliable. Depending on the value of the bike, you may or may not owe a duty on it.
In my experience, unless you're a business importer, duty usually isn't charged for foreign purchases.
