Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ex demo Merida Scultura 7000-E (59cm)

Hi guys,

What do you make of this bike?

$1 Reserve Merida Scultura 7000-E (59cm) | Trade Me

It is being sold by a leading bike retailer (Bike Barn) in New Zealand and is on a $1 reserve. From the looks of it, it is an ex-demo bike and not in 100% new condition.

I know I can get this bike brand new at another NZ bike retailer for around $3k (evocycles usually do a 10% cash discount if you ask nicely!).

MERIDA SCULTURA 7000 E

So what would be a fair price to pay for a bike like this as described in the auction?

Thanks! :-)

Note: All prices in New Zealand dollars

Well, Dan can just get the shop to ship the bike to your address and you can forward it on to him.

As for a fair price, I wouldn't pay above 60-70% of the full retail price. Retailers usually discount end of year lines by about this amount and for a demo it is about the same price I would expect to pay.

There are 6 bids so it will likely sell at market price

This brand isn't sold in the US. As the majority of people on here are likely in the US not many of us can likely comment on the frame.
