Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What Carbon Cages? (yes it is stupid)

I know it is stupid and pointless to put carbon cages on a bike, but if I were to put anything besides carbon on my Orca it would look silly. With that being said, I need some help on what cages to put on it, right now I am leaning towards some Elite carbon cages, but I am open for any suggestions.

Good call on those, they are also high on my list.

I found some Orbea carbon cages on eBay, but was thinking that may be a bit much, but for $50 for the pair not too bad of a deal.

EDIT: Just did a little research and the Orbea cages are made by Arundel, hmmm.

Check out this website. https://ravx.com/2008_product/pages_p..._08/cages.html

They've got a good selection. I got both as presents, and they work very well. Lots of abuse, strong, and grip the bottles very nicely. I'm using the gamma x model.

the site mentioned above...but not the gamma...the alpha...keeps the hint of red theme that's going throughout the whole bike.

I'd hire a domestic to ferry bottles from your team car.

Am I in the minority in thinking that the black plastic Tacx Tao cages actually look BETTER than the carbon ones? I think these would look just fine on a carbon bike.

Forte from performance. The newer ones work just fine and are less than 20 bones each.

I have had three different cages on my bike.

Aluminum held the bottle too firmly and it was difficult to put the bottles back

Karbon Lite - Easy to get bottles out but I lost a bottle on a ride. That gets expensive.

Arundel - Just right. Easy to get bottles out and put back and has never dropped a bottle. Also, mine do not rattle at all. I think they are great and I will never have any other bottle cages on my bike but Arundel.

That makes no sense, there is nothing about them that could rattle. I once didn't tighten the seattube cage bold enough and the spacer would rattle.

Exactly. The Arundel cages just work. Period.
