what's also interesting is in my earliest communication with the company, the individual told me they were pretty sure that they did not produce this frame, and that someone did a good job applying their decals to whatever frame i have. then they offered to buy it from me (don't know why)! maybe the limited run was so limited that they've forgotten about it!

Weather it is real Funk or not suspect it is real. This is because on the small red one they needed to move the chain stay placement to allow for the fat tires. It is pretty common for extra small frames to have slightly differant brazing or lug work.

Did you ever learn anything more about the frame? I don’t even see that the tubing was ever confirmed. Is it titanium or aluminum?

Did you share with the prospective buyer that you corresponded with the active Funk company and were told it wasn’t one of theirs?

Congratulations on the sale and thank you for providing a reference point.

post #23 all but confirms it is genuine, plus a few other post references. i believe it was a limited release, nearly 10 years ago, from a very small company, so the fact that they don't have info may not be so surprising. they did offer to buy it from me (but never gave me a price).

Note to self: Don’t start a company and forget what you did 10 years prior.

Nonetheless at this point my concerns would be mute. Someone across the pond will be happy with their new Funk bicycle which may or may not be aluminum.
