can't find my old list. what do you guys keep at work?

thinking out loud, there are 4 major categories

• arriving, cleanup & post ride nutrition
• clothes to wear during work hours
• daily lunch or walk to local deli
• fresh items for the ride home
• deodorant
• supplements

all I could find is this old photo

I think I remember keeping cleanup stuff in 1 drawer & the extra clothes in another drawer
lights are on batteries
I carry the tools & tubes & only ride in good weather. it's 22 miles each way
sometimes I ride both ways
other times I keep a car at the office, so I can drive in ride home, then the next day ride in & drive home
& not every day, it would be like 1 or 2 days a week

also when I keep a car at the office I can run over to my gym for a shower & change & also go to the gym at lunchtime for weight training

Under cube desk: gym bag with flip-flops for shower, soap, shampoo, hanger (for work clothes while showering, and bike clothes during the day), lock, and athletes foot cream. Dress shoes.

Emergency supplies in drawer: towel and wet wipes (for when gym is closed or towels are unavailable), spare socks and underwear, belt, band-aids, munchies. Most of which have been there unused for years since I last needed them, except for the munchies.

At the office I keep toiletries, a towel, street shoes, light and medium jackets plus ball cap (I'm bald), a winter coat, hat and gloves, emergency underwear, socks and a clean shirt for when I forget to pack...or worse. Although at the new job I have company-branded shirts and jackets, and there's a Wal-Mart two blocks away. There's also a bike shop 4 blocks away.

I also carry tubes and tools with me as well as mini pumps on the bikes, but I keep a full-size floor pump at the office as well. All my bikes have Air-Zound airhorns one pumps up to recharge, so the floor pump is a must.

At the old job I kept chargers for my lights, but since everything is now USB, and batteries are so much better, and my commute is shorter, I don't need any extra chargers at the new office.

At the old job there was a dressing room with a clothes rack I was able to use. At the new job I use a mini-wardrobe for my clothes, and I'm able to park my bike in my office (my winter bike is in the photo).

Shoes, pants, and a bunch of shirts, socks and underwear. A towel, a pack of wipes, deodorant. A tube with fast dissolving magnesium/potassium tablets, just in case.
One or two chocolate bars, also just in case.
A pack of plasters (hansaplast, although I carry those in the rear rack bag as well, together with the tools, pump and spare tube).

But... apples. Lots of apples. One should never be low on apples, and the current number in my desk drawer is nine (Granny Smith, nice and sour; Plus one tangerine, couldn't find good ones yesterday so I am down to just one).

With your vehicle generally at your office, you can store far more items than what fits in a couple desk drawers.
Might as well add spare tires, chain, tools, cables, first aid kit, spokes, etc. Keep all that and your pump in the trunk.

I have my own little apple orchard of two trees in the back yard for this purpose. I probably (trans)planted them 20 years ago. One is northern spy for tart, the other is honey crisp for sweet. They are both on dwarf rootstocks. Some years I get nothing if a storm damages the flowers. Some years I get more than I can handle, so the rest of the apples get given away or pressed into cider.

I had an office job from 2014 through 2017. I commuted two or three days a week then. I kept a complete change, because I would occasionally get soaked.

we had 2 apple trees growing up. one of my chores was picking up all the dropped apples, before they rotted on the patio. our neighbor would take them & make pies

My wife used to work at Jockey Hollow (Continental Army camped there by Morristown, NJ). There is an apple orchard that is maintained there for historical purposes, but because it is a national park, no one is allowed to pick the apples - they all fall down and ferment on the ground. She would watch many deer come out and literally get drunk and tipsy from eating too many ground apples

I guess it depends on the commute.

My commute in is 2 miles. The first mile is downhill and the second mile is pretty flat. So I just (try to) take 'er easy on the way in. Just a little sweat patch on my back when I arrive.

On the ride home I also take it easy, but end up sweatier, esp. when it's warm out. But I'll be home before it gets bad and just take my daily shower at that point.

I keep zero bike stuff at work. In the winter or when it might rain in the afternoon, I keep rain pants in my backpack.

THAT is a pretty heavy duty commute! You get a tip of the hat from me.
As you can see, you do indeed need to be more prepared than I would.
For me, the worst case is a two mile walk home, then get in the car and drive to work, fixing the bike later.

What a great thread idea!
I keep an extra set of clothes/shoes/undies. Nothing like getting to work and forgetting a key piece of the wardrobe which, while infrequent, can occur if I don’t pack the night before and end up packing sleepy, at o’ dark-thirty. In my office is also a towel, toiletries, etc.
