Picked up 5 bikes this weekend; how'd I do?

Just got back from the second day of driving out and about NorCal picking up lots of bikes. At the end of the day, this is what I brought home (in order of most recent to least recent):

- A Bridgestone X0-1 for $70 from a garage sale! It's in good condition, and it's the purple color.

- A Trek 560 with a Deore RD (but a frozen seat post...) for $100.

- A Puch Bergmisser(?) with some Campy Gran Sport FD and RD. $80.

- A Centurion Comp TA with the Shimano 600 group for $100.

and that wraps it up! I am looking at a few more deals to go pick up next week. I can also upload pictures of the bikes I picked up if you want. Let me know your thoughts/comments!

Especially what to do with the Bridgestone; I got it at such a low price, do I hang on to it as my grail and ride the daylights out of it or flip for maximum profit?

Pics or it didn't happen. There, I said it.

...but seriously, assuming they're not completely thrashed that sounds like an epic day of bike buying.

What year is it?

Am old eno' to recall the launch. As soon as I saw me first one I "got" what Grant was up to. Used to visit with him back in his REI days...

Will get some pictures up once I get home. I took the Comp TA out for a ride around this evening. It was good, but smoky! It's fire season..

Here they are! Not great, I know, but hey. Take what you can get..
They all came as complete bikes. They are missing some things because I have already started tinkering around with them.

Your purchase is the size of my collection.

At least I have two Austrian bikes.

I agree that the XO-1, in particular, has potential, but the Bergmeister is cool, particularly w/ the Campag. derailleur upgrades.

Thanks very much for the images Mr. Dollar!

The Bergie looks to be an early to mid '60's era example.

Question regarding the X01 for the Grant experts. Recall that at launch the only colour was orange and bar was moustache pattern. By year two or three brakes had changed from caliper to cantis. So am puzzled by this example due to the combination of colour, drop bar and caliper brakes. Is this a stock configuration? What model year?

Thank you.

The 1992 XO-1 came in pearl tusk and purple metallic with 47-57mm Dia-Compe sidepulls ; the 1993 version was Construction Orange with Tusk panels and cantilever brakes. There were 1,000 built each year, and the cantilever version is more highly sought after. From what I've read through the years, lots of riders decided to go with dropped bars on these, and in so doing dropped the most argued-over aspect of them. I briefly owned a purple '92 XO-1 that had been destroyed when its owner drove into his garage with the bike on a roof rack; unfortunately, the frame repair guy I sent it to found that in addition to the top and down tubes, the steerer tube and the rear stays were also bent.

Had that XO-1 in purple from a neighbor. Came with mustache bars, canti's and color matched caged pedals. Too bad it was a 47cm frame. Nice catch on all of the bikes.

Yep, the '92 was not as good because it limits you in tire sizes. I own and ride regularly a '93 XO 2 in purple. It has the same frame geometry as the XO 1 but a little heavier tubing set and not as an expensive flat fork crown. It is a heck of a bike. Probably the nicest do everything bike I have ever owned. There is a lot to be said for a bike with road geometry and fat cushy tires (which no doubt helps explain the 650b phenomenon as well).

Five in one weekend?
Isn't that over the legal limit?

Perhaps we should check to make sure his velo hunting license has not expired...

I mean to to say Trek 620... Ergh, I always mess it up because I already have a trek 560 in the fleet.

And it certainly was an epic weekend! Would have had a Lotus Classique too if the guy didn't sell it to someone while we were communicating.. All the bikes should fit me fairly well. It pains me to say it, but I plan to sell the Trek and the Puch to offset some of the costs.. :'(

I know the X0-1 has a squirrelly geometry... but that head tube looks a few inches taller than any of the other ones.

That one's the real keeper-

You'll get a good price for the 620. 2nd best year for it.
