I would ride one if I could one in my size. I like them and don't care if someone thinks it's girly.

Manly men tend to laugh at the fact that I have a bell on my bike. With that being said, manly men probably feel too manly to ride a Mixte... These are the same manly men who clap and cheer when a waitress drops a stack of plates, or are too manly to buy furniture in any other color but black, or would never be caught wearing a pink shirt, or refuse to carry their wifes purse while she goes to the bathroom...

I own two that I ride occasionally . One's a Univega , black with red trim and lettering and the other is a blue Raleigh that I've converted to a single speed cruiser with 26" wheels and cruiser bars . I have no problem riding them . I just think they are unique . This is the Raleigh . kirby

I built 3 mixte frames when I was at Trek. I would be really interested if those are still around.
I think that many current bikes are built with lower top tubes than was common in the C&V days. Probably has increased acceptance of a mixte as a man's bike. I'm stuck in the old days myself.

I had a pink centurian mixte, medium quality, I sure wish it had been big enough for me! I was picturing it with north road bars and an internal hub. I fixed it as a five speed and gave it to a girl I know and she thinks its too girly. Ingrate.
Would love to find one that was a 58 or 60 c.

My Mixte is my favorite bike... I'm a Man. But, I don't consider a mixte frame a woman's frame. Then again I've never figured out the whole "women ride this frame, men ride that frame" concept anyway...
I can hear someone now; it's because of skirts. But, that didn't ever mean that men weren't allowed to ride them as well, same way with women and diamond frame bikes... it just seems kind of stupid to me. That's not to say I want to go ride a "Hello Kitty" pink bike,(not my taste) but if I did, and someone else thinks they can make a judgment call as to how "Manly" I am by the bike I ride... that's their hangup not mine.

I was explaining to my daughter the beautiful symmetry of the split top-tubes and of the seat-tube bisecting the rear brake center-pull cable, when my son taught me a new word - nerdgasm. Yeah, I like the design of mixte frames. Unfortunately they don't come in 63cm, so I'm relegated to building one for my daughter.

I have no problem with them. I'd like to find one that fits without being forced to make it fit.

This is all good. Once I have this Terranaut rebuilt, I plan on riding it if my wife doesn't.

I would ride a mixte, but not most other step through frames. For some reason the aesthetics of the mixte design really, really appeal to me, whereas a lot of others just scream "half-baked idea for a ladies frame!"
Not to say there aren't other exceptions. I like those Dutch city-bikes with the hoop-esque step-throughs as well.

I do ... (on rollers in the basement).
My wife gives me enough grief about having a bell on my bikes.

I think I would prefer them for city use with lots of stopping and starting, getting on/off, etc. They just make more sense for that type of use

Monty Python(ish): Manly things in manly ways on mixte frames.
Why not? I'm building up one for my daughter, but I might ride it, or a ladies Raleigh DL-1 around the park for fun.

I built one for my wife, and I used to ride it a lot until I got a basket on my Schwinn - hers was my grocery runner. I like it but it is a touch too small for me to ride for any distance.

Riv makes a beauty of a mixte and I'd ride it in a heartbeat. Apparently they had to make a more manly one, different name, different colors, but same frame. Knowing me, I'd still get on and off it the same way.
When I bought my mountain bike it was pink- a GT. No one ever stole it in twelve years living in Chicago.
A lot of people think riding any bike is a sissy thing to do. Scr*w them. I got no issues with my masculinity. Or femininity. Or whatever.

I used to ride a pink Dyno back in the day...it was probably a late 80's model.. rotor...pegs...it was great.
I'd ride a mixte with no qualms but they're never big enough for me.

I believe it is the French word for "mixed", and is used in French the way "unisex" is used in English. I think in French it is pronounced "meekst"; when I say it, I say "miks-tee".

Do manly men ride mixtes? Of course they do. Do I ride a mixte? No, I don't. Am I a manly man? No, not really.
I prefer the classic look of a horizontal top tube, but that doesn't mean that I would be opposed to riding a mixte frame bike. At the risk of sounding a little offensive, maybe those who think mixtes are too girly need to turn the magnifying glass on themselves. I mean, if it's not for you, it's not for you. But that's no reason to judge others.

I used to ride a Peugeot mixte that was quite a bit too small for me. I thought it looked extra cool with a long seat post way up, actually -- but tippy and whippy as all get-out.
So I gave it to a buddy who's kinda short but overcompensates by being super manly.
