Especially people who only remember the last couple decades of very low inflation, and especially the years between 2008 and 2020 where we we consistently below the 2% Fed target rate, not to mention the years where interest rates were stuck at the Zero Lower Bound. If you'd told me in 1982 that I'd have a 30 year fixed mortgage at <3% I'd have told you you were nuts.
30 year term mortgages were just normal when I got my first one. Here in paradise we have a tendency to fix the interest rate for between 1 -3year and then refix. rinse and repeat. I still didn't think that I'd ever get interest under 3% when I took mine out. Of course I took the opportunity to fix mine for three years when it dropped that low. I should have fixed the interest rate for longer but I was unsure if I was keeping the house or moving to one with less gardens and fruit trees. And because I'm a terrific spender and poor saver I took the opportunity when the interest rates were low to increase my mortgage repayment amount to a couple of $100 per fortnight above the minimum repayments required. I think of it an enforced savings.

Is the GF now a Mrs. BH or is that too 1980's? Sorry to hear of crash. Smashed hip sounds bad, but good you're running. I would only do that immediately after robbing a convenience store.
Unsure on length of visit, but it's nice to chat, and frankly be remembered. I never picked up a cycling community after moving, and insane work hours cramped riding. Then motorcycles altered riding. Still have all the bikes though, and built up another after moving. A nice Reynolds 725 Genesis Equilibrium with Campy Athena. Haven't ridden it much but it's h, got the modern vintage flair that I like.

Oh, yes, that also drives me up the wall. "Inflation beaten" = "priced what I remember, and really that means old sale prices become new sticker prices".

from my understanding hyperinflation means your country is economically well up **** creek without a paddle and the central bank will print larger and larger value banknotes just so you can buy a loaf of bread. I may be wrong. Also not being a 'merikan I'm insulated from a lot of crazy media about 'merika.

Great dog pics from yesterday, LAJ . no way was I reviewing the whole year, but just glancing at the yesterday shots its always good to see pups.
Safe to assume you are still a Colorado denizen? I should have looked in for your Christmas display, as I recall you always doing the nines.
Bah Humbug , you still a Texan? And I would assume still a tri athelete (pardon the expression).
HeyBillyD , hope all is well. And I won't guess where Lester is now. Is it safe to ask if there is still a Ramona? (I won't try the fancy at in case its bad juju)

Busy Rebecca-Bee is a little doll, but definitely a pup. Our breeder is 75 and said this would be her last litter, and likely our last puppy, so we put our order in. Having three dogs means I walk too much, which is counter-productive to the bike, as you well know.
Still in Colorado, still pissing off the neighbors with buses full of drunk-ish revelers visiting us and our lights. I did figure out how to temper it a bit by handing out boxes of See's candy, like it's candy, to our street mates.
Again, it's good to see you and I'm hoping the aches and pains from previous stuff hasn't slowed you down too much.
(Sorry for the repeat picture, folks)

Why frighten kids for something that is unlikely to happen and if it did, the Fumble ****s in charge fail to execute the plan. These jagovs cant even decide whether or not to cancel school when snow is predicted.

Did the bike shop move? I rolled through that area over the summer and thought to pay a visit, and it seemed to be non-existent. Or maybe it was just closed. It was one of those.
Nice Benson shot by the VW. And totally incidentally, I have rims and snow tires for a VW GTI sitting idly in my shed if you have need of some low to no cost winter treads.
Hello Addiction-ites. I was passing though the area yesterday afternoon and it was "neat" to see lots of names I remember. Hope all is well with all.

The brownie elf is memorable. I grew up a Steeler fan but mostly abandoned the NFL in the late 90's. Nice for you to pop in. Best of luck in your adventure through life.

There are a lot of people borrowing on student loan programs to support a high standard of living while in school, and that is a problem. I know a young dentist who has about $500k in student debt. But, that includes student loan borrowings to buy at least two cars during her school years, and pay for other extravagant lifestyle cHhoices (spring break and other travels, expensive clothing, etc.). Now she *****es about how her debt should be forgiven because it is "unfair", and works part-time because she just doesn't want to work full-time. I just don't get it.

I was a browns fan, fairly avid, right up until they traded their future for a sex offender. I saw Baker Mayfield's first start in Oakland. In the 4th quarter, the Browns were up by I think 21 and Raiders fans started leaving. I told them "You're playing the Browns, you might want to stay." Oakland one in OT.

genejockey You list a Lotus Supreme in your bikes. Is that the bright pink devil from the mid-80's? I worked at a bike shop in Ithaca that sold Lotus then, and when I built up a Prestige frame my buddy did a Dura Ace Supreme. Beautiful bike.
