[Wheel building] Database to find rim with given ERD?
Hello,
The 36H Nexus 8 hub is currently easier and cheaper to find online than the 32H model.
OTOH, I have a set of 272mm spokes handy.
According to the DT Swiss calculator, I need a rim with an ERD of 612mm to use those spokes with that hub.
Is there an online database to find what rims that match?
The Pro Wheel Builder site returns no hits.

The Freespoke database on the kstoerz.com website does list a fair number of rims and their published ERD's. Of course, even if you happen to find a rim you'd be happy with, the actual ERD of a rim may not match the published ERD.

I've had a bad experience with building a wheel based on the published ERD. the spokes came up two mm too short. I had to scrap all the spokes and start again with longer ones after I measured the rim myself and found that the ERD was several mm wider than what the manufacturer published. I emailed the mfger about it and they took some of the rims in question out of the warehouse to measure and confirmed to me that their published measurement was incorrect and mine was right. they fixed the error and sent me a set of spokes in the correct length to make up for the mistake.

No, that's not how that works. If the entire length of the nipple, regardless of material, is not supported by a spoke threaded through it, the nipples will break at the head.
in my case, I couldhave laced up that wheel, but there would have been exposed threads by the time I got the spokes up to tension and because the nipples were not fully supported by the spokes, I'd have to deal with frequent popped nipples.

Just a suggestion: Sun Ringle CR-18 rims (700c) have a published ERD of 612 mm. I've built a number of wheels with this rim and found them to be excellent for the price. I'm not sure what sort of use you plan, but CR-18s would be a perfect match for that Nexus hub.

I agree with Mack above, always measure.
you can find "on line resources" and have different ERD measurements from each.
you can make a tool to measure ERD from 2 spokes.
