My C&V New Year's resolution...
So I am fairly happy with the bikes I have, and no longer feel the need to replace them. So for this year, I am going to do a LOT more riding, and a lot less shopping. I will ONLY buy a new (to me) bike if it is an obvious upgrade and deal. I will however upgrade components....without guilt.

Likewise. I just put together a new ride (40 yo frame and parts from a bike I never really liked, my two good bikes and workhorse fixie are just fine as is and my Peter Mooney had earned its place even if my riding has changed. That leaves my "Team Dumspter", the bargain fixie with a frame that is snow formally retired though the parts are still on it. If the right frame came around ...
Now, I probably shouldn't be answering here as none of my bikes are "classic" and only two perhaps vintage. None are remotely period correct. The oldest (and most recent) does have gear that honor its heritage in that it is set up top be ridden basically as intended. It is a circa 1970 Raleigh Carlton and I have it set up with a 53-42-28 triple, 13-24 7 speed FW, DT shifters. Seat is a Terry Fly, not too different from the seat I raced around 6 years later (except for the cutout that I didn't need then but do now!) This is not far from the British bike I bought in 1973 that had almost that gearing (obviously not 7 speed and TA plus I think Heuret, not SunTour). That bike
s original plastic shell seat quickly was replaced with a Selle Italia that later went on to my racing bike. (If I am right, Selle Italia makes the Terry Fly, so that new seat isn't that far off.)

- sell two.
- get the herd down to a perfect three.
- only buy/rebuild interesting mid-level bikes in my size that will sell themselves.
- read and cook more.

I hope to loose 25 pounds and double my riding time for 2015. They should both go hand in hand.

I want to ride more, but looking at the staffing at work, I foresee a lot of overtime, so that may not happen. Instead, I may be upgrading some components and/or bikes in the hope that I get to ride more later, like retirement in a few years. In any event, I am putting a bike together that is better suited for bad weather, so that I can make use of whatever time I get, even if conditions are not optimal.

Organize my tools and supplies better.
Finish the projects I have, and, in general, shorten the time a project takes from start to finish. I have some that are years ongoing.

My resolution is to enclose the carport recently vacated by my old Chevelle and convert it into a decent woodworking shop; finish a bunch of guitar builds I started years ago. Also enclose the area under my kids' treehouse to have a place to store the mower and yard tools scattered about in various nooks and crannies.
On the C&V front: more commuting, sell the bikes I'm not riding anymore (there are at least three now), more rides up to Hurricane Ridge, with friends, because misery loves company (Anyone who has that on their bucket list should PM me.)
Also, to get my wife to take one - just one - lousy little ride on the Peugeot mixte I built for her. And hopefully she'll like it enough to do it again someday. You never know.

Say it every year, maybe this year it will happen - ride 15-18 hours/week.

Fight off becoming (derelict) C&V now and in the future via: more riding, more climbing, more rest, better eating, turning weight into miles. (also, more multi-day backpacking trips).

Use my bike more for local errands instead of the car. Get together more with C&V'ers for rides whenever possible. Enjoy riding more, have it feel like work less.
If I buy a bike as next year's winter project, it's going to need to be something very special. I've spent much of this week taking down and rebuilding my most often used bikes (those in need of cleaning and upkeep). That seems to be taking enough time, and allows me to think of the nice rides I've completed on each of them. Having bikes that I know very well allows me to make impact-ful tweaks and upgrades without feeling I'm just throwing money at them. It seems better than starting fresh. At least that's my perspective until something fantastic comes along.
Overall, my saddle time and mileage is well over last year's total. If I keep up this year's figures (approximately) that will be my goal on the fitness side.
