Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

sheesh, ya'll are a tough crowd. nobody's complaining about the wheels having any negative impact on their riding. In fact I've said a few times, here and in other places, how awesome I think the wheels are.

Alright, let me clarify my point. It's simply that I a) noticed that the wheels were overweight, and reported this to Boyd and b) Boyd said that they confirmed the rims were coming in a little heavier than they thought. They said they'd update the website to reflect this. They haven't.

Yes, we're talking about a paltry amount of grams, especially for a non-WW clincher. Do you actually disagree that Boyd shouldn't advertise a very specific weight they know to be incorrect?
Again, your build was well within the +/- 5% of the claimed weight so I don't think Boyd has to update anything unless someone else has a build that weighs a lot more than yours

If Boyd had replied to me saying something like, "well the weight is within 5% of advertised so that's that", I would have left it at that. They didn't. They acknowledged the rims were coming in over the weight they'd expected, and told me they'd update their website. None of this affects my own purchase - I just thought, at the time, it was cool of them to not only reply to me, but that they'd make the update. So now, I'm disappointed they haven't.

Why is this so difficult for you to understand?

Whatever. I was just sharing my experience. I'm not trying to stain the brand. If you folk will let me, I'll leave it this: the Vitesse wheels are brilliant. I've loved every mile I've ridden on them and I'm looking forward to a lot more.

So what are the hubs like on these wheels? Do they seem to be high quality?

30 grams is equal to the weight of 1 oz of water (yes, a shot glass full of water).

I am definitely going to sell my 2 sets of Vittesse wheels now.

The hubs are the best part of these wheels and the reason I bought a second set for another bike.

The first time I put my Vittesse wheels on my bike I had it up on the bike stand and gave the wheel a good spin. The phone rang and I went to answer the phone. I came back 5 min or so later and the damn wheel was still spinning. I had to go ask my wife if she had by any chance gone out in the garage and spun that wheel again.

I have never had hubs that spin this freely before. I am a convert. If you spin the wheel on the stand you better go grab a beer because you will be waiting for awhile for it to stop spinning.

agreed on the hubs. I dig the freewheel sound too, not too loud, I actually find it pleasant.

They are made by Bitex. Similar to the bikehubstore Superlight set.

They said they were going to update the website less than 2 weeks ago and you're *****in it hasn't happened yet, from a company who's business is NOT WEBSITES?! If it hadn't been updated in 2 months, that'd be one thing, but two weeks?

Back on topic, they look like good wheels. If I keep my Fuji carbon, and I like the 23mm wide format, I'd consider selling my Fulcrum 5 Evolutions and getting a pair. I wanted silver hubs and spokes for my new Kirk, so I went the custom route with the HED rim. Yeah, they ended up weighing in closer to 1600g, which is still less than any other wheelset I own and I don't live in the mtns so I'm not complaining if they are as solid and dependable as they were built to be. OP, enjoy your new wheels!

...again, I was just sharing my experience. Everyone else seems to be *****in at me for it. I guess if even the mods are not understanding my intention or my language, then I've really misstated myself. I apologize for that, and I'd like to reemphasize all of the good things that have been said by myself and others about these wheels.

A little jumpy here guys. 30g might not be significant to some but might be for some others...
Apparently, there are PLENTY of components out there that would cost quite a bit of money difference for same functionality but for 30g difference.
slynkie is well justified in his concern IMHO and he presented it tactfully and nicely enough.
As for 2 weeks not a big deal? It is for online store! If they knew of the issue and not updating information, it really is. It takes how long to fix couple of characters in website?
Probably less time than span of this thread since its start. Some of you guys are patronizing well received vendor here too much some times when there actually is potential issues here.

PS) from what little I've seen, I bet coachboyd doesn't condone some of bashing you guys have been throwing at slynkie.

Mavic, Zipp, Hed and every other wheel company has variances in their advertised weight. sometimes slightly lower, sometimes slightly higher, sometimes right on.

Maybe they should update their site every time someone sends them a wheel weight

Not to get away from the ww talk, but to reply to the OP. Your wheels look sweet, but I like the looks of my Psimet's on my M1 better. (And I've no idea of actual weight, as Rob built them up with tape, tubes and tires, and I wasn't about to strip them to weigh).
(and yes, I fixed my seat).
