50.5 cm C-C Pogliaghi frame - $150 (Madison)

Heck, between the value in the shifters, headset, and seat post binder could be they are paying you to take it away...

Check out this for some history and a registry of serial numbers that may help you date your frame: www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Pogliaghi/Pogliaghi

I recently found this Pogliaghi Italcorse and added it to the queue. Frame #11056 (not sure about the five) 64 cm CTT. Cranks are dated 1977 which seems about right. The rear triangle has some rust issues...

This one has the same BB marking as mine "RW" and has the same under the BB cable routing. Mine is a 11 348 and this one is 11 342. Just some frames apart. The "RW" and the under the BB routing maybe and might suggest a batch for dealer. But knowing for sure is something completely different.

And this one (unknown serial) has the same symbol on the frame (decal on top tube) as on my frame mounted pump (blurry symbol in the lower part of the pic). The handlebar symbol and letters sure look like "Witt" or "Wuitt". Does it have anything to do with the W in "RW"!? Who knows... Input wellcome on the handlebar symbol.

I wrote earlier about my circa 1977 Pogliaghi with a "RW" stamped on the BB shell and that I had found one more with the same stamp - and that this might suggest a batch for dealer. This coupled with a symbol - I wrote "And this one (unknown serial) has the same symbol on the frame (decal on top tube) as on my frame mounted pump (blurry symbol in the lower part of the pic). My last post ended with "Who knows" Now I know. One small bit of the giant Pogliaghi puzzle has found its place.

I continued to, from time to time, check the net for BB-shell photographs with "RW" and I really tried to figure out what that symbol represents.

Mine:

A chrome one that I do not have the serial of:

A couple of other frames:

The symbol with the "handlebar" - my pump:

The decal on a bike (unknown serial)

I really had to use my imagination to figure out what the decal said. In the end it was a mix of me beginning to think in terms of German and google-fu. I bought mine from Germany. It was sold there according to the seller and the original owner had put it at 1977 (the last is up for debate but let us say circa 1977). I do know German enough to get by and it paid off in the end.

Radsport Wulff it is! In Hamburg. Company started by 1968 German champion Hans Wulff. Hans passed away in 2022 and the shop is now owned by his son, Thorsten Wulff.

https://www.radsport-wulff.de/

I have tried to e-mail them but has not recieved an answer. I will try again.

For the time being I reckon one can conclude that frames stamped with "RW" were meant for Radsport Wulff. If they are close together in serials there is also reason to believe they were bought in a batch (with or without takers in beforehand).

Pics, except of my frame, are stolen from the net.

It is nice when a long time search moves you further in your understanding.

PS - If you own or know of a "RW" - please let me/us know.

In case you are not aware, there is a Pogliaghi group on FaceBark where you could post your request. This type of question comes up from time to time.
