Know of a good Yoga training tape or book?
I am a 54 year old male. Way back in the dark ages I took some yoga classes but I gave it up - and it shows. I would like to start up again but need a training aid. I'm trying to keep the old bones somewhat limber. There are no classes where I live.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I second the Yoga for Athletes recommendation- it also comes with a DVD so you can do your poses in the privacy of your own home....

IMO, yoga is a good adjunct to bicycling, but I do my best yoga when I'm riding a lot. There have been other threads about yoga and bicycling on some Forums, including the 50+ Forum. One benefit cited by those who take classes is working with young ladies in leotards (this opinion does not necessarily reflect the views of Jim from Boston or Bike Forums--I'm just sayin').

great yoga tapes
Brian Kest's dvd 's really got me into yoga. Not much voodoo, great workouts!!!!! AWESOME

A video is way better than a book so you can see how they get into and do each pose. This guy is very encouraging and motivational. And stong as a frigin ox...
This guy rocks and it's 15 bucks for 3 long workouts.....

It totally depends on the type of yoga you want to do. Power yoga? Hatha? Kripalu? Vinyasa? What level are you? I know you've said it's been a while, but how limber are you?
Also, where in Illinois do you live? I just can't believe there are no yoga classes in the area (not that I'm accusing you of anything)- sometimes, they're out there, just not advertised. Yoga instructors are creeping out of every crack and crevice. ;-)
If you want, you can also check with the Yoga Alliance. They have a listing of all yoga instructors (legit ones will register), and trust me... they are EVERYWHERE.
