Grip installation

Who has the secret for ease of sliding on new grips I picked new ones up yet today they fought me on installation. Soapy water just made the grips slippery to hold. Who has a better idea?

Thanks,
Tim

This is what they taught me at the shop I worked at. Works like a charm.

Compressed air to "float" them in place and adjust.

All good suggestions that work well. I’ll add rubbing alcohol-slippery and then dries fast.

sometimes I soak them in warm water. They slide on easy, shrink to original size when cool and stay put when water dries. Windex works well too. I've also used a grip specific spray that smelled like relabeled hair spray.

I’ll 3rd isopropyl alcohol, pour some into the grip, shake it around, dump it out, and slide it on. You got plenty of time to get it where you want it, but after it sits overnight, it’s on.

Another plus whatever we are at for isopropyl alcohol it works well. Though I just recommend using Ergon grips, more comfortable and most of them are lock on, generally I don't need anything for those they slide on and I tighten down with a simple hex wrench and slide into comfort.

Apparently Aquanet (our shop’s brand of choice) is collectible now. There’s a $45 dollar can on eBay…

Shaving Cream, if still to hard to slide on then heat them up in hot water.

Cheapest hairspray you can find. Contains alcohol and lacquer. Allows it so slide on when wet and the lacquer "glues" it when it dries. You should not use too much, just a short spray in each grip.

This is what I used at home before getting a job at a shop, but it tended to stretch out some of the softer grips if I did it for too long or too many times.

I have in the past on Motorcycle and Bicycle grips. If these did not start on so well I would think I have the wrong size grips. Only Dirt Bike grips have fought so hard before.

Thanks All !
I shall employ a combined strategy today.
1. Soak in Hot water
2. Alcohol and Hair Spray (dollar store mini can) ready
3. Harley Tool #3 ( Large Hammer)
4. Take hot grip Lube quickly and ram that sucker on.
5. as stated on the Shampoo bottles. Rinse Repeat.
