Th later
‘I did find hiding in the back of a drawer a set of early Cinelli Bivalent hubs with three freewheels.
‘about a month later the owner sold them off for a price that had him grinning ear to ear.
in 1975, found a steel Cinelli Pista bar, I forget what I paid but I still have those on my track bike. I forget the bend, 14 or 16.

Ben,
This year was not as much fun as a couple of years ago when it said: Open me first!. But it was still a good Holiday, We had family dinners with the adopted niece and nephews, and their kids last Sunday, and dinner with the War Department's family today. The best of the season is being able to ride indoors this winter on a trainer riding an Ochsner and a Trek in rotation, but it will be a good season of rehabilitation of my knees. Smiles, MH

Unusual scenario - I was with the GF at her parents house (second time I have been there) and her dad says he hears I like working on old bikes and asked if I would want some of his old stuff when he owned a Peugeot. Ugghh, no French bikes in my collection which = no need for French stuff. Sure, I’ll take a look…
Well, way better than I hoped for. The pedals are NOS and the Racer is missing the mounting stud but excellent condition. The 2(!) Mafac tool pouches are a nice grab and I have enough tire levers to last me through eternity. The Simplex FD is also quite nice so let me know if you are interested.

makes one think the bike had French threaded cranks, maybe why the pedals are unused.

Perhaps you were not nearly "naughty" enough enough and need to try harder this coming year!
My best to you and the War Department...
PS, there's always Paris, Ben

My wife searched high and low to track down a Sturmey Archer ASC hub, shifter, and cogs. Well maybe I pointed her to the listings I was interested in. The cogs arrived before Christmas, the other parts are still making their way over from England.
Since pictures are required, I figured I’d share the Christmas sunset I enjoyed while I’m biding my time in Maui waiting for the parts to get to California.

It isn’t vintage or classic but I got this a bit early this year since it was on sale right after Thanksgiving. Between work, weather and Christmas travel I don’t have many miles on it. I also haven’t taken any good pictures so this will have to do.
It is a Breezer Radar Expert. I have interested in these since they first came out.

My wife's younger sister gave me the blue 1962 Carlton Franco Suisse (pictured) for a Christmas past. This year I told her I wanted 32H 700C Sun CR-18 rims for the new wheelset I am building for it, using a pair of Campag. 32H hubs I already have. (Original wheelset had Lambert hubs and steel 27" rims, which are unbecoming to a full Reynolds 531 DB frame.) Rims are coming in next week's mail, because Santa got backlogged.
As obtained from my wife's younger sister. Just my size. 27" steel rims are going, along with the completely rotted tires.

I also received books, including one I've been after for several years but was always unavailable or too expensive. It's in French but between Google and my old French textbook it appears I will be capable of performing a passable translation.
Upon opening I flipped through the pages and my heart started racing upon seeing this:
Such knowledge awaits!

Smartwool Intraknit base layer.
Looks just like an oldschool wool cycling jersey to me, gift exchange from my niece.
Amazing piece of kit.
Have other Smartwool's and they are great but often too warmish.
This one seems to be different and much better in that respect.

Late to the party, the one cycling item Santa brought was a pair of XL Casati fleece lined tights. Had to return them after trying them on and not being able to get them past my thighs - and I've lost a few pounds lately. Ordered 3XL to replace them, supposed to be here Thursday.
Consider this a PSA.

New Year's Day 2023
No longer under the tree, but it was on Christmas day. I got this Libertas 60cm mixte frame that I told my wife I wanted, and I'm building up Blue Bella.
