1987 Team Aero Miyata
Forgive me, I'm fairly new to the C&V forums, but I hear there are a few folks keen on old Miyatas. I love seeing life breathed into old bikes. I imagine the stories they could tell- whether from amateur racers seeking their breakout win or an entry level 10 speed that's been passed down through generations. It's kind of silly, obsessing over parts and obscure specifications, but I think we honor these bikes of yesteryear through our nerdiness.
I've been working on a 1987 Team Aero Miyata, nearly all of it is original. I'm slowly collecting the remaining bits for a complete restoration. Here's the breakdown:
Original components:
1987 Team Aero Miyata frame: 56cm seat & top tube, c-c
700c Araya disc
650c Suntour Superbe Pro laced to Araya ADX-4
Dura-Ace 7400 derailleurs, 175mm crank, BB, brakes, shifters (7-sp), headset
Dura-Ace 7300 AX aero brake levers
Nitto stem, "Miyata" pantograph
Restoration components I've added:
Nitto Aero Dynamics TT bar (I believe this is the correct spec)
Dura-Ace 7400 pedals
7sp chain
Vittoria 650c tubular
Continental 700c tubular
Benotto Cellotape (pearl white)
Still need:
Dura-Ace aero 26.8 seatpost
Blk Selle Italia Super Turbo saddle
Thanks for looking! Here's a link to the full gallery.

Thumbs up! Your attention to detail is obvious!
Miyatas are awesome. I had a triple butted and splined 712. Sold it cheap. Regrets.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
Very nice! I had this hanging in the barn for a while:
But sold it off when I realized I'd never have the parts to do it justice.

Very cool bike.
If you'd be willing to use a 600AX seatpost instead of a Dura Ace, this one is on ebay for a great price. I believe it might be being sold by a forum member.

Great information in the catalog....seems no small triathletes because 56 is the smallest frame size!: cry:
Best, Ben

We were a Miyata dealer for 20 years, and never saw this model in person. Sold plenty of the Team Miyata model, but not the aero version. Very nice bike.

Nicely done TT from the "funny car" era (small wheel up front) I'll bet that rear wheel makes an awesome sound cutting through the wind on the straights...
