Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cervelo Super Prodigy

I am looking into buying one used locally with these bits and pieces:

Cervelo Super Prodigy steel frame
FSA carbon cranks
FSA carbon Seatpost
THe lightest FSA stem and handlebars
RD-600 Road WHeels
Campagnolo Centaur 20spd group
No seat or saddle

The guy is asking $1,300.00 for it. How does that sound? too much or a deal? Please let me know. I am to test ride it thursday. I am also looking into a Pinarello Galeleo but I get it with employee discount so it would be the same price but new...except that it is an alloy/carbon frame with shimano ultegra parts .

I would buy that in an instant if the size was right and it was in good condition. Hot bike and you just can't find them.

I love the frame myself, especially in the CSC color scheme. It seems like a good setup for a training bike. It's a fair, but not great, deal - depending on the wear on the drivetrain. If you can get something almost as good for the same price, only new, that would seem like the better option if the Cervelo's a bit worn. Plus you can configre the new one however you want, especially considering you work (?) there.

I had one a couple of years ago and I paid 1700 for full Ultrega 9. Nice bike, didn't like the 1 inch full carbon muscle fork too much. The ride quality improved after I stuck an Alpha Q fork in it. Good luck.

I managed to get a NOS cervelo prodigy frameset with the white paint and nickel plating locally and built it up.

I'd say go for it if the size fits. Personally I find the frame itself worth keeping.

Is that the one made of ultrafoco? If so...buy it now, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I saw that bike on the Seattle Craigslist as well. Beautiful bike, I'd have considered it if it were in my size.
