How to measure brake boss

Hi all,

I am trying to install new canti brakes but don't know how to measure the brake boss. instructions say "measure the brake boss from the end of the brake boss to the shoulder"

What does that mean and what should I measure it with? I need to determine if it is 22mm or 21mm which have me using different spacers.

You measure the post itself, from the front edge to the base plate.

Or you can skip that and look at how the brake itself fits. The parts are premeasured and the moving parts have to come up just shy of the front edge of the post, so when the end part, usually a washer bottoms on the post without binding the moving part. OTOH it should be close enough that the moving parts cannot slip up or down the post.
