Birthday ride
The cold short days make a mileage based ride kind of difficult here, so I settled for a metric one. 64 km to celebrate 64 years.
My birthday was Saturday, but the temps were somewhat below freezing with the promise of some improvement today, so I postponed it. It was still chilly, high 30s, low 40s and damp, but we toughed it out.
My friend who rode with me holds the Canadian hour record for his age category on the track, so it was up to me to try to keep up.
Anyway, here we are just after finishing. Glad to be home to warm up.

A belated very happy birthday Dan, great job on the metric century and on staying this side of the turf for another year.

Thanks, but I actually only did 64km, not a metric century. If the days were not so short and cold this time of year, I would probably carry on the mile per year tradition, but as it is, I think I should trade birthdays with my wife. Hers is in July, and she doesn't follow the ride tradition anyway.

That's great! Happy Birthday. I had great weather the day before mine and it would have been a good day for an attempt but I chose not to ride on my special day. Using KM is a good idea for this time of year. I'll have to see what 57 KM converts to. I may have ridden it on that nice day.

Good work, Dan. I have vanishing hope of doing a long ride on my birthday, as it falls on January 19, typically the coldest week of the year. In that weather, I can't whip up enough enthusiasm for it.

Thanks. November is a crap shoot here weather wise, but I've had good luck in that department for the last several years.

Happy birthday Dan! It does suck sometimes for those of us that don't live in the warm weather regions. But you do what you can do, and you did it!
