Rockhopper Age
Hi
Can anyone help me I have just got this from a friend and it has only been used a few times
Looking back on the Specialized archive I can't a similar bike
It has Rockshock solo air forks and Hayes Stroker Ride.
Makes me think it quite old as it have v brake mounts on the back.
Just would like to get a idea of age

Don't know what you mean by quite old, but without putting forth any effort, I'd say 10-15 years at the most. Good source of info: BikePedia

Unless it has a great big wheel on the front I consider it to be relatively new.

Yep 2005ish. Bike companies sell bikes today with v-brakes.

That bike looks nothing like an old Rockhopper. On the market since the mid-80's.

With a shock, it is nowhere near what I would call old... The early Rockhoppers didn't have suspension forks, and came with cantilever brakes.

I have an "in between" Rockhopper with thicker tubes and V-brakes, with a rigid fork that I guess I would consider old if pressed, but that bike you have is a baby in the world of cycling, and a pre-teen at best in the realm of mountain bikes.

Decent bike. Might be upgraded from stock. Sport XC MTB's of this vintage often had both a disk bracket and V-brake studs so the same frame could be sold at different component levels for several years as cheaper forks and disks became available. My 02 Hardrock is similar. I'm not finding anything exactly the same on the Bikepedia site but the swoosh at the back of the top tube is shared by a lot of the 2005 bikes.
