Sexy Bob Jackson find. Ideale porn inside...
Picked this up from a nice guy that bought it from the original owner. Looks like a mid-70s BJ to me.
Anyway, I always love finding a complete Bob Jackson because they always have an eclectic mix of parts.
This one has:
-Sunshine Pro-Am hubs
-Suntour Cyclone GT drivetrain (derailleurs and shifters)
-Ideal saddle with the flat aluminum trusses
-KKT PAA Japanese pedals
-Campagnolo Record headset
-SR Royal Stem
-SR World Randonneur Handlebars
-Dia Compe Gran Compe levers and Calipers
-Sugino Triple crankset
-YFC seatpost
-heat-sinked aluminum brake pad holders
-Suntour Winner 5-speed freewheel
My questions are, what are the parts worth something and what are the parts not? Before I start making this beauty fit, I want to know how well I should regard the contact points and the drivetrain. I now what the Suntour stuff is worth, but as to the Sunshine, Sugino triple, Ideale and SR stuff, I have no idea.

I didn't catch the model number, but the Ideale with those rails are worth a few hundred. Usually go for at least 500 if in good condition. I've seen the 47 or 55 or something like that go for
$1400 on ebay.

The Drive Side is Within
I'd never part a bike like that out at all. Those components seem just right for it.
But that's me-- I'd suggest that you let your own experience of functionality guide your judgement of what should stay and what should go.

I'd keep everything, pretty much. Just about everything on there is some sort of late-70's - early-80's icon. Cyclone GT in black, Power Ratchet Bar-cons, Gran Compe brakes also in black, Sugino Mighty Tour crank, Sunshine Pro-Am hubs, SR bars and stem, Matthauser finned aluminium brake pads - all good stuff. And as noted that saddle is worth big bucks. Judging by the state of those chainrings it hasn't been ridden much either.
So there's nothing there that isn't worth keeping and riding. I'd only change things for gearing or fit reason, myself.
That's a really nice bike!

I hear you all on the aesthetic value of these components. However, to me, aero levers, newer bar-end shifters, modern cables, longer and stiffer cranks, lighter hubs and rims, and dual-pivot brakes just work and feel better. I'm a retromod kind of guy.
Can anyone identify which model Ideale saddle it is?

In both examples I gave you can see the model number embossed on the side. Sometimes it is pretty hard to see the embossing. I didn't see it in the pictures, and I certainly
don't know the models well enough to guess from the shape. You should be able to make it out.

It's my size.... One of the few times I kicked myself for not bidding on ebay many years ago. His ugly brown full touring cousin went for $325.
Ebay the saddle save the non-areo breaks in your parts bin and alter the gearing to suit. 1/2 step granny with a wide 5 speed?
Two things I hate on bikes.
Stem shifters
Non-areo breaks, especially those with turkey wings.

I actually have most of the replacement parts. But yeah, this bike is a semi-time-capsule. Most of the parts look to have less than 100 miles on them.

While it wouldn't be period, I would change the seat post and seat to something a bit more comfortable, I'm presently retro fitting a 1978 Motobecane Le Champion frame to mostly equipment from at least before 1990. But you can't always do it.

The bike appears a pretty reasonable overall spec, I would have gone with Campagnolo hubs but aside from fitting issues,I think it is pretty harmonious.
The Super Record headset might be a cut above the rest fthe bike, but aside from natural sidewall tires which would improve its looks and maybe fenders, a handsome bike.
