I put a blue B-17 on my mostly blue bike. I believe that the B-17 is the only model that comes in blue. It's a really dark blue almost to the point of being black after riding on it for a while.

Great seat, will last the rest of your life with proper care. I've had one on my Cinelli for decades, still hard as a rock, but comfortable properly set up. I find the nose needs to be up a hair. I'd choose comfort over looks any day.

A friend of mine goes 190 plus and rides a titanico. His has held up well to good miles...tightening adjustments have worked. The op also stated 100.00 range. The high end brooks can be found used on occasion in that range or go "modern" on sale.

I have a black big copper rivet Brooks Pro I'd sell you for $100. Recent production, very nice condition. PM me if you're interested and I can send you pictures tonight.

I have a limited edition Professional in blue and it has done the same thing. Below is when it was basically new and rides had been limited. I'll try to get a more up to date picture showing how it has darkened in the past 2 years.

OK,....what does "cludgy" mean anyway??....
Brooks B17 saddles have looked and worked nicely on many 80's and early 90's bikes out there......
Could it be just the fade paintjob on the OP's bike that does not seem to match well with the Brooks saddles?

Be advised that Justin cannot re-use the front gold buttons when recovering a Rolls. Back trim yes, but not the front ones.

I ride a Concor on one of my bikes and like it well enough on any ride under 20 miles or so. I've also got two Brooks Professionals and two B17s, and find their extra width to be essential for comfort on longer rides. It could just be that on the shorter rides, I'm pushing harder and most of my weight is on my feet most of the time. On a longer ride I'll actually be sitting and taking it easier, putting more of my weight on the butt.

I'm 6' and about 190lbs, and find the Concor to be just a bit of an ass hatchet for me. It really looks cool, though.

Yes, Concors are "love it or hate it" affairs.....Has to do mostly on how narrow your sit bone spacing is..... The narrower it is, the more you will most likely love riding the Concor.
I think the Rolls and Turbos fit better on people with wider sit bone spacing.

Oooh, I see you have a Colt, as well. How does that compare to your professional, mostly in terms of stiffness and width at the sit-bone area? I've come close to buying Colts on the big auction site several times before, but was unsure if I wanted to commit $100+ to saddle I wasn't sure that I'd like.

I've bought a number of Gyes for bikes, haven't ridden them much because I have too many bikes, but they seem well made for the price.

I haven't tried Brooks narrow Imperial because I didn't know they made one before I bought the standard width. My butt is relatively narrow for my height and I used to like the Selle Italia Turbo back in the day.

But I gotta tell ya that standard width Imperial is mighty comfortable for me and I'm putting one on my '83 Trek road 970 this winter. Haven't tried their narrow yet. At those prices why experiment when I like what I've got ?

I agree the blue would look fine but I need to make sure this bike is for sure a keeper before investing in such a...unique and limited usage...colour. Frame might be a tad big (61cm c-c) but maybe with a closer stem it would be better. Height wise it is ok but the reach might be a bit far.
Put a 60mm stem on it. makes a world of difference.

Brooks Imperials are quite a bargain compared to other sport/racing saddles from the company. I was quite surprised how relatively affordable they are, even brand new, considering how much more work the company puts into their leather covers, compared to their other offerings. Only thing I'd wish they'd do different on the Imperial saddle is to maybe use the large copper rivets on them instead of the small chrome ones. The Imperial looks especailly nice on pre-80's and older bikes.......plus they are comfortable right out of the box because of their pressure relief slots.

For me at least, the "sit" is the same as a Professional or even the discontinued B5N, but the leather is not holding up nearly as well. Out of the box a Colt is not as stiff or as hard as a Professional. Below is a side by side with a 40+/- year old Professional.

But as we know the shape of a new Professional is not the same as an Old Professional.

I prefer the B17 for comfort, but I agree that fade paint and Brooks are an aesthetic mismatch.

My Colt is by far the hardest Brooks I own. It came from a bike that lived in the desert, so maybe it got permanently dried out.

I agree with this also. I am 6'3" and about 185 lbs and prefer the swallow to swift for my fit. Taller guys have inevitably wider set sits bones (well most do) and I cannot tolerate a narrow brooks.

Well. I assume they do because I do. So yeah I could be completely wrong. I have a pretty slight build and yet still have apparently wider than average sits bones.

Brooks Swallow
Now that's more streamlined and probably more like what I should consider for my new build.
