i have a mad scientist project bike with drop bars and a coaster brake, and was wondering if there is something that one can bolt on the drop bars to grab in order to take the place of brake levers. i don't want to install a set of lever housings with the levers removed if there are "thingies" designed for that purpose. does that make any sense?

Some kind of dia compe knock off. They aren’t exactly lever shaped, but give a good place to pull when honking.

Considering what the Dummy levers sell for your better off heading down to the LBS and rumming in the used bin for a pair of ratty old levers and triming them down

the bike project is a resto mod 1936 era machine, so the shimano levers would look too out of place,

and i'm a stickler for accuracy and proper decorum!

If it’s a bike from 1936, and you want to be accurate, the top tube logo ought to be B17. It was first flown in 1935. B52s had to wait until the 50’s

busted! i wasn't even close! which only counts with horseshoes and nuclear weapons...

there is a strong possibility that the claim about being a stickler for accuracy was blatant lie. and not the first one either! (and no crude comments about my girlfriend either!)

Dia-Compe DC138 hand rests were typically paired with a set of Dia-Compe guidonnet-style brake levers for a more upright position on drop bars. I built up a cockpit in this style a decade ago but found guidonnet levers to be too flexy for my tastes:

my build has a 3 speed rear hub with a coaster brake, so not needing brake levers. silver king frames didn't mount any caliper brakes anyway. but i'll be using those nubs to hold on while i engage dragging my foot on the ground for emergency stops! but thanks for the info!
