Um.... definitely in the minority.
There is a theory that all of the water on Earth has been here the whole time... hence, there is no "new" water.... it's just distributed around and held other places from time to time.
How do you feel about drinking all that waste?

Oh wow, i thought at least one member would back me up. All my current saddles have been previously owned. And i have only bought a couple new saddles in my life. Personally I like vintage saddles alot more although i've always had that theory about them.

I would buy a very lightly used saddle, no problem.
What I don't get is buying used riding shorts or bibs.
I see these advertised on other forums in the classifieds and I get pretty grossed out.
To me, it's like wearing a stranger's underwear.
That's certainly a line I won't cross.

I have bought 4 used saddles.
You don't have to lick them.

I'm OK with it, but I also think that the three second rule is too restrictive and will use my shirt as a handkerchief. I'm not a good judge

Pleather ones don't freak me out but used leather or lycra covered ones are kinda creepy to me, too dang porous!

Not backing this one up, me. Never bought a new saddle in my life - unless you count the one that came on my Norco Cherokee, which was in any case actually purchased by my father when I was 11 years old. I've been known to sit down in a variety of places where others (including the sweaty and insalubrious) have no doubt come before me. I'm ok with it.

I think used leather saddles that are sagging and stained are gross, and I would not use one unless it was my own sweat.
Also, I think that nasty, wasty, discolored leather bar tape is gross, an would replace with new.

You have a point. Other people's body fluids are disgusting. Mine aren't great but I can live with them.
That said, UV is one of the most effective antimicrobials there is. Bugs don't like the sun.

I've encountered a lot of gross saddles flipping bikes - but not because they were used. I agree the lycra and gel covered ones are gross.

Used saddles- ok, used bibs/socks- definitely NOT ok ! Also, I'm not against used vintage leather cycling shoes, but they must be in very good condition, and I will clean them thoroughly with some type of disinfectant before reconditioning the leather. After all, finding an unused NOS pair of leather cycling shoes in my size is near impossible. NOS hairnet helmets do surface from time to time, but then even used ones are cleaned and only used for display in my collection.

Riding like its 1990
Yeah, used anything clothing is where I draw the line. I dont think about the saddle but I do have my own favorites.
I did however, have the unplesant experience of working on a bike where I was adjusting the bottom braket the saddle was nose level, and let me tell you.... i thought about its history then!

I would not want a saddle used in Seattle's Freemont Summer Solstice Parade :-)
