Where do these guys get off texting me that my price is too high? If I sell it for that price then it's not too high. If it doesn't sell; it's too high. My pricing is none of your damn business.
Sorry...this last jerk really ticked me off.....

Link to your ad? I think we'd all like to have the opportunity to confirm if your price is too high. Knowing this crowd, I'm sure we'll tell you it is.

Unsolicited opinions can be ignored if you're not interested, but sometimes they are helpful. It all depends on how they're worded. Some people can be real jerks, but around here, I've generally found most everyone to be very helpful, even if they're telling me something I don't particularly want to hear.

I have a question. Since you do not have a premium membership what are you doing soliciting sales here in the first place?

"If I want your opinion; I'll ask for it.....' - sounds like an invitation to me, but well, that's just me. More like an opportunity to butt in. Heh.
But seriously, If I wanted to pay someone to rebuild my bike, $300 would be more than fair. To actually get a nice rebuild is even better. But you have to HTHU (I won't swear). I hear this kind of complaint all the time from my kids working retail. Can you believe some folks come in and argue about the price and won't leave the sales counter? It is a culture thing for some groups I guess.

Maybe it's the market, too. Where I live that Dave Scott would be going for much more than $300. Old steel road bikes are desireable here. But in Memphis?
Plus, I love those old Dave Scotts. The ones with the smoked paint are so cool.

A culture thing? I guess... I learnt to try to negotiate all prices by watching my grandma. I don't think there is anything wrong about asking for a better price, the worst thing that can happen is that people say no. A good friend of mine was asked in a business class "when should you try to negotiate a price? Always.... it is business"

Yeah, if only sellers & buyers would follow the golden rule, it woudn't be necessary to negotiate. At least competition/aka the marketplace provides a similar outcome, to some extent.

$300 is probably not out of line for some markets. Tampa? NFW.
Fix the seat and bar angles and dump the 3rd grade reflectors.

And your limiting yourself with the 'in person only' bit for offers and subject lines demands. Set aside the CL tin hat and maybe you'll sell it.

Sure, I joke around and ask for a "<insert silly reason> discount" and sometimes get a better price, but listening to the people on the other side that have to deal with it all the time, I realize how maddening it can be. What I was referring to, without picking on people from other countries, is the aggressive attitude of almost bullying for a better price, and actually disrupting the rest of us in line that just want to pay for our goods and go home.

You gonna eat that?
It's a not-unreasonable ask. If someone were asking that for an Accordo, I might give them guff, but for an Ironman, that's typical from what I've seen.

I see there is a standover height listed there. Is it too hard to list a cm measurement? That is what most people looking at that type of bike for that type of money want to see.

If people are texting the OP just to tell him his price is too high, then the OP has every right to vent. If they are making a good faith offer for less than asking price, then the OP has no right to vent. I'm not sure what's the case here, but my experience on CL has been good, with the occasional idiot thrown in. You are going to run into people who have no clue what constitutes a negotiation. Best to just move on from those types.

Converting inches to cm is not rocket surgery.

Putting your phone number in a CL ad is dumb.
