Replacing tig welded cantilever posts?
I picked up a frame that had cantilever posts added with Tig welding. The rear posts are visibly out of alignment. The prior owner rode the bike extensively and said he used Tektro cantilevers and had no problems.
Assuming that modern brakes have enough adjustment and the real issue is my OCD, is there any structural reason not to grind the Tigged on posts off and braze a new set on correctly in the same spot?

I have done the same to my 1988 Mongoose Tomac MtB. The rear bosses were no where near what I wanted for leverage, cable angles and housing stop. That was close to 32 years ago and I still have the bike. Andy

If you are getting it powder coated, I think I would replace them. I'm not convinced it doesn't cause problems. Maybe it doesn't cause any more problems than just using tektro brakes does. The ones I had were amazingly sloppy and getting them to stop squealing was a temporary thing.
