Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What is less than 0%? A negative percentage.

Maybe people here don't get maps, either. That would explain some things.

All five of my front staff are out. I am guessing 15-20% of my community has covid. We are resuming telemedicine/virtual visits for at least the next week and possibly longer.

Sigh.

Thank you. A map that's legible is the first step.

I think my NY resolution is to only pay attention to Velo Vol when I absolutely must.

Yes. Did that mean one person in each brown spot moved out of there? 30? 300? The positive were all broken down, in a sense, the less than 0 were just.... Less than 0.

The interesting thing about these population change maps is that the trend over my lifetime has not only been from country to city, or at least metro area, but also from North to South. When I was younger, air conditioning was pretty rare, but nowadays everyone's got it, so the South is more liveable - warmer winters and all that. But with climate change, hot summers will become REALLY hot summers, so I wonder whether we'll see the population shifting North again.

That is the problem with that map. It makes no distinction between 1 person leaving and EVERYONE leaving.

You can see in many states that the counties where population grew have the highest population density already, while the counties that are declining were already more thinly population - population concentrating in the metro areas.

Less than 0.0% could just mean no statistical change.

That's not what we usually mean by less than zero. Usually that means negative. No change is already covered by 0 - 4.9%.

Facebook keeps showing me an ad for "licorice", but it seems the meaning of 'licorice' has been expanded to mean any chewy candy. Anyhow, the ad says "Licorice so good it's dangerous", presumably meaning to your diet. But licorice - the original meaning - IS dangerous to your health in large quantity.

Well that was a win. The seat post is long enough that I can comfortably ride that bike. And it's a nice bike. Odd that I've never ridden it in the tenish years we've owned it.
It'll need some upgrades. Shifters, tires, pump. I went out with a HPX3 taped to the top tube. And a spare tube no bigger than 43mm. I wonder if I can find presta tires in the right size. I have a pair of rim converters in the stash. I no longer have to be concerned about beating that Trek 414 to death.
I recorded it on Wikiloc, my first. Nice platform. Goodbye Strava. And good riddance.

Yes indeed! Every medical student knows glycorhyzic (of which “licorice” is a corruption and meaning “sugar root”) acid toxicity is in the differential diagnosis for renal tubular acidosis.
