Here is the link to my 2010 post when I finally got my new Landshark (a custom steel bike built by John Slawta in Oregon). Cool thing about this bike is the custom paint job by the builder.
Before the Landshark I rode on a 2002 LeMond Zurich which I still use for commuting to work.
Love Steel... love the feel.

Pamestique,
I missed your post the first time through ... that's what I get for browsing on the phone.
Your Land Shark is very cool. I'm jealous. I considered a full custom build via a local builder ( Shamrock Cycles' Celtic Cross). Maybe someday.
However, the dialog in your thread about want/need/deserve really rings true with me. I could make some adjustments to the Bianchi and keep on ridin'. In the end, decided that in terms of $$ per hour (compared to say, playing golf or going to the movies), I could justify getting what fit me better. We spend a lot of hours on these bikes.

PS: There are a ton of great bikes on the thread. I laughed when I saw another Imola in the first reply (HeavyHauler). Although there's a Bianchi dealer here in town, I only see 1 or 2 other Imola/Vigorelli/Volpe frames at events each year. Glad to see another getting some miles. I'm trying not to bump my own post too much by replying to everyone, but did want to say thanks for sharing.

Almost a Clydesdale
I never get sore,
nothing ever hurts, nothing,
when I get tired I just slow my cadence 25-35% and drink some water..
When I get really tired and I do stop,
I dismont and stretch out, then get back on the seat and sit there, resting.
Recumbents are IMO the evolution of bikes.
Just sayin,,,,

Fellow SFM members,
Thanks for your pictures and help.
I ordered the Cross Check tonight from the LBS. She'll be a semi-custom frame up build done in "dark dirty blue" with a lot of silver components and silver wheels.
The color I got is the color they're using for the CC-SS in this year.
https://surlybikes.com/bikes/cross_check_ss
Shifters/Brakes/Crank will be Shimano 105.
Stem/Bars/Seatpost/Brakes will be a mix of brands and a few things I'm bringing from home.
Going to start her on 32mm tires, with the intent of dropping to 28s once the snow plows and spring rains push the loose crud off of the (fresh) chip n' seal we got out here this year.
Hopefully will have pics in 10-14d!
