Garmin 1030+ accident detector going off while braking in the rain.
I never had this issue last year but this year if my rotors are wet and I brake al little hard the accident detector goes off and I have to hold my finger on it to cancel it. it went off twice yesterday. the last time I had not even braked hard. but it seems kind of random as I brake a lot riding in the city.

Durn, just a typo... I was really excited to get in here and find out what the "Accident Doctor" in your title was! <grin>
All I can say is I've had my crash detection on my Edge 530 go off a couple times. Both were times I rapidly accelerated from a stop and then very quickly stopped. They were both close in occurrence to each other and both on the same software version which was several updates ago.
So if you aren't on the current update, you might update. Though I don't specifically know that it was any update that solved it. I've never even tried to make it go off intentionally by the circumstances I think played a part in the false alert.

Garmins connect to your phone and know the weather, it almost sounds like it considers riding in the rain to be dangerous, so when the thing sees a sign deceleration, if it's raining it's a crash. I doubt that's how it really works, but that's what it sounds like.

no I think it uses an acceleration sensor. but it has gone off without a full stop. I wonder if it could be the vibration from the rain on the rotors? last year I had 2 piston magura and now 4 piston xt's

I use mine all the time on some fairly rough gravel roads and never had it go off.

The one time I crashed over the bars hard, my Edge Explore didn't send a notification. Yet it sent it two different times when I set the bike down at the roadside for a nature break. Seems like unreliable tech.
