Tyler

I thought Tyler came across as highly credible in that 60 Minutes piece. Either that or he has potential as a world class Academy Award winning actor. It was tough for him to do that interview. Hell, it was tough to watch.

Forget Tyler. Lance can still use the argument that Tyler was just saying that stuff to sell his new book. The most damning thing in the whole segment was the statement that George also testified...

I don't think Tyler looked particularly credible. But if Hincapie has turned, then Lance likely is toast. You can't prove a negative ("I didn't dope"), but you can build a strong circumstantial case. It's all over for Lance but the trial, and that's too bad.

Watch the 60 Minutes piece. That is not the impression you are left with. Not even close. Remember this will be the man that will testify in court. What you and I think won't matter. What will the jury or judge think?

During the segment, my wife asked me what would happen if the the Feds expended this much effort on investigating the use of steroids in pro football... Just imagine.

It really is rather astonishing that the UCI would even accept a 'donation' from a competitor that it regularly tests for doping. That is the very definition of 'conflict of interest'. Further confirmation of how effed up the entire sport was at the time. Hopefully things have improved.

Good grief. Investigate Armstrong? That's a witch hunt, even if they have a case. Investigate the friggin aholes @ the UCI.

I totally agree. I was just anticipating the Armstrong rebuttal against Tyler.

I have to say I found Hamilton credible, mostly due the mounting pile of corroborating evidence.

But one question that wasn't asked is why are you talking to us now?

I understand talking to the Grand Jury under subpeona, but he didn't have to talk to 60 minutes (ala Hincapie).

I would have liked to hear his answer to that question.

I have always thought that Lance was in trouble. The lack of libel lawsuits on his behalf astonish me. One would think that Lance, with all of his supposed resources, would have slammed these charges in court by now. Any normal person who is being allegedly "slandered" in this manner would certainly want to clear their name. Lance's argument has always been that he has never failed a drug test NOT that he has never used them. Semantics?....perhaps...circumstantial evidence....perhaps But enough eyewitness testimony will carry some weight. Nonetheless, this sure isn't looking good for Lance. I do wonder what all of the Greg LeMond haters will have to say if this ends badly.
Cheers,

Brian J.

I thought Hamilton appeared to struggle during that interview, and that it added to his credibility.

While I anticipated the outcome of the 60 Minutes piece, I find myself extremely angry...angry at Lance for all of the lies and angry at myself for believing them for so long.

Get over it. Are you angry at Riis, Patani, Ulrich, Basso, Ricco, Millar, etc, etc. ?

Sometimes growing up is painful.

You will not be the only one who feels that way. It is difficult for any heroic figure to be revealed as a fraud. It can be argued, however, that he was still the best TdF rider in the doping era (this one anyway). What is a travesty is that one of the greatest cyclists and certainly one of the greatest American ones has wondered these very things all along and has been roundly villified for it. I am not angry with Lance, not at all, since I did not idolize him in the first place. I have always respected what he did but always had that doubt in my mind. I will also say that I HOPED I was wrong and that my doubts would prove to be unfounded. That still remains to be seen.....

Cheers,

Brian J

Merlins right, we should never believe anyone. be suspicious at all times, From now on when anyone does anything exceptional we should throw used blood bags at them and scream Doper!

So what. He doped. we all kind of knew it. It takes some of the shine off of it, but in the end what difference does it make. There is too much money involved to believe that the participants would not seek out any advantage that they could, legal or otherwise.
