OTOH, my Dad's Citroen had a leak in its hydraulic system, and rather than having it towed* the 35 miles to the guy who fixed Citroens, he set off with a couple quarts of Dexron, with Mom following him. He managed to get it there, but Mom said she thought it was misting out and it turned out it was fluid from the Cit - the leak was in the high pressure part of the system.
*Flatbedded, really. You can't tow a Citroen DS, because of the suspension - if the engine's not turning, the suspension will settle down to the lowest setting and you'll be dragging the back end on the ground.

I was watching a 1991 YouTube video on Gen X this morning and one thing that amused me was there were some guys who formed what they called the National Association for the Advancement of Time.
It was formed to push back against all the Boomer nostalgia in music, culture, and here I would add cars.

1. YouTube was around in 1991?
2. 33 years later are these jack wagons no longer listening to anything from their youth? Back in 1991 boomer music was only 25 years old.
3. If you are for advancement of time why the love for marching band music or Dvorak? Both of which are much older than boomer music. Kind of hypocritical.

Exactly. I once failed to tighten the hose clamp completely on one of the rubber end caps of the heat exchanger on the boat diesel, blew out all the coolant and pumped seawater through the freshwater side (and into the bilge) while we motored into town. My first intimation that something was amiss was that my glasses fogged up when I want below. No harm done.

I follow a few FB groups for bicycle like Specialized, Giant, Trek, etc. where people post their bikes and there seems to be a trend of tilting saddles forward. Is it just me or can’t imagine riding that way with all your weight on your arms and feel like one is falling off the saddle?
Thankfully, our own BF hot or not doesn’t seem to follow that trend.

Basically instead of riding the “nut” when you are trying to go hard, you are riding the “nut” all the time. I am pretty sure I asked about this when I was new here and was chastised for the idea of sliding the seat all the way forward. It looks dumb, if the pros do it to get that 1 percent advantage good for them.

About 125 miles on the road bike plus maybe 5 hours on the mtb. Was feeling pretty good and was happy with the way I rode last weekend but the thing yesterday really left me gassed. Went out today on the mtb and every effort was tough.
I guess this is the way it is now. I can do one of the faster paced club rides but it hurts. It's not so much the climbing as it is the pace everywhere. Used to be easier. Used to be able to work 'em pretty good on the flats. Now they make a big deal if I go to the front. "Whoa, John's breaking away" with hoots and hollering.

Naw, the new style is to slam the saddle all the way forward as well as throwing a 130 mm stem on the front.
Timtok had it right all along.

I think you're conflating Timtak and Beng1. The former was real big on putting his saddle farther back so he could push forward on the pedals, whereas the latter preferred to take a Bike Boom bike, turn the seatpost around, and then clamp the saddle at the extreme back of the rails.
