Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They say it's heading north. They also say we should expect heavy rains for the next five days. We are currently experiencing heavy rain.

Don't think I've been passed by a runner while riding on pavement but it's happened a lot on steep dirt trails. At some point the bike stops being an asset and turns into a liability.
I was on a long fire road and encountered a running club. The fastest few of them were able to stay in front of me for a while. When we got close to the top and a descent, the fastest guy looked at me and said "see ya".

I was climbing a twisty singletrack starting at 6000 feet and a fireman passed me on foot. He was carrying a bunch of gear, a big radio, etc. Every time I would get close to him he would cut the next corner to stay ahead. Finally the grade relented enough for me to drop him. I complimented him for his strength.

So tempting considering 95% of my riding is road anyway

I do like the soloist, but this frame is awesome.

Don't worry - you'd get me on the downhill, as he did.

72?. You've knocked me off the oldster podium. Two 72s and a 76??. I'm a lowly 71
Edit: I won't hit 72 until July. I see only one way to get my podium spot back.......

I'm a fan of the carbon Sirrus. A few of the shop customers have them. We even did a custom Di2 setup for one of them.

I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but my wife has gone over to the dark side or possibly light side depending upon your point of view.

That's sweet!! I have thoughts about making one of my old race bikes into a hot hybrid like that, but the reality is that there's nowhere I would ride it at this point. Maybe in the future.

Trsnrtr I'm all for electric vehicles. But the Tesla is too showy/flashy for my taste. Too much "tech bro" energy. From what I can see, it's mostly ambitious white men in their 30's and 40's working in engineering or operations, with a lot to prove. I realize that I am probably (much) closer to that demographic than your wife is , but still it's not a vibe I want to participate in.
