Last September, at the Mt. Shasta Hill Climb - 14 miles, with 4100 feet of climbing.
I was having a great race until I got a front wheel flat. I thought I was only about half a mile from the finish, so left my shoes on the side of the road, and started running with the bike.
After about 300 meters, I realized my progress was too slow, and that the finish was actually over a mile away. So, I jumped back on the bike, and rode to the finish sans shoes.
Sadly, I got passed by a guy in my age group in the last 500 meters, thus slipping to second place. But I did cement a reputation for crazy in my club.
Note: I was also riding with an unhealed broken clavicle.

Genetics have failed me
Cobb park crit from like 3 weeks ago or so. Somewhere in the back of the pack as there are not many riders left behind me. I finished in the pack.

We had a pretty good gap there I guess because (apparently to me NOW ) cars were driving on the course inbetween us and the pack. (I am in the yellow with red helmet)

My teammate, Ashton Lambie, won the Cat 4 race one of the days in Lawrence. Kid is 19 and killing people already!!
He just won the Omaha Cycling Weekend with a 2nd in the TT, 1st in the Crit and 1st in the RR.
And to think, he started off the season as a brand new Cat 5...
"The Kid," FTW in a sprint this weekend!
UPDATE: The Kid is now a Cat 3.
