Pretty much never enough snow here in Shanghai to require a plow. Even when snow does stick to the ground it's gone from roads within a day or two at absolute most.

I just had to spend over a week avoiding all bike paths in Baltimore as none were plowed that I found. Usually the snow doesn’t stay around very long so it’s not a big deal. It finally all melted a few days ago and I am back on the paths.

My community has very few 'useful' bike paths. There's a few meandering through the city park and a few that follow along side a road or two, and one 'connector' path, but they are not particularly useful for a bike commuter.

My city is very proficient in clearing the roads during the winter and I would consider the service department to be 'overachievers' in salting the roads. Think enough salt to feel like riding on gravel at times! The issue with the bike lanes is that it usually takes a few days for the plowing and salting to adequately clear the lanes of snow and ice. Unfortunately, the bike lanes are mostly filled with other road debris, garbage, stones and such due to the curbs and snow on the side of the roads preventing this crap from being cleared off the road. looking forward to the spring cleanup and once again enjoying smooth (ish), clear roads.

Nope, we don't get snow here (Tallahassee) other than a very little, very rarely.

There is one trail within 30 miles of me that gets plowed- the Minuteman Bike Path from Bedford to Arlington, MA. The rest are snowy. This one trail has it done as it goes through the most wealthy towns of any bike trail I know in Massachusetts and they have signs allowing you to contribute money for the plowing.

Chicago plows some of the protected bike lanes and bike paths, but it's less of a priority than the car lanes. Unprotected bike lanes are hit or miss, sometimes all the road snow ends up there, sometimes not.

Ottawa has a limited network that's plowed. That network is usually done pretty early, before residential streets.

Some of the best paths are groomed for XC skiing & fatbiking, so those are out for commuting - my winter route is slightly shorter, but takes longer (even when I take it in summer) because of being on city streets with intersections instead of the pathway along the river.

In my city only some of them are plowed. The main trails right in the core of the city are cleared but not any of the feeder lanes. Enough to get most people around but still a sketchy ride unless you're fat-biking.

Madison does a really good job clearing the paths, better than low traffic streets. Depending on timing, the path I’m on most frequently will be better than some of streets, especially for cycling.
