Berkeley Hills RR Cat3
Last lap - bridge up to a promising break. We start working together but get caught. I keep the pace high and start attacking in the rollers before the 3 climbs. End up off the front with one other guy. We start working together get a good gap before my partner pops and im on my own. Kamikaze attack for the finish and almost make it (50 meters) last climb i was cramping everywhere haah and pedaling squares. Finished 3rd.

Apparently everyone was too tired from racing Bristol Mtn the day before.
Bristol was fun. It was a different course than last year, with longer, more gradual climbs. The finish was pretty weird, it was a 55 mph descent that became a false flat right at the finish.
In the 4s, we started off ridiculously slow, going directly into the wind on the flattest section of the course. After a couple of weak attacks, the group made its way to Egypt hill, where people were just getting blown off the back. I got into a group of 10 guys, and we worked pretty well together for the whole race from that point forward. Some of the riders were causing gaps in the paceline, but a couple of hills later, they were dropped.
Eventually, one of the 2 UR teammates rolled off the front on the second to last hill. I was still recovering from a cramp about 3 miles earlier, so I wasn't in a position to chase. He soloed in for the win, while I clawed my way to 2nd place shortly after the last climb, and held everyone off on the descent.
I needed the 2nd place for the 6 points for my upgrade to the 3s...upgrade request is pending

I am last in this pic =) not sure what lap this was... ohh, and I finished 9th. much suffering in this one.
There also just happens to be another road race forum bf-er in this same picture. =) I'll keep his identity a secret until he posts about it =)

Somerset (NJ) Circuit TT on Saturday, rolling 10 mile course. Having spent about 8 years in the next town over, I'd ridden these roads plenty. Familiarity helped some, but couldn't compensate for a subpar engine. I did hear, though, that someone overcooked one of the turns and ended up in a ditch. Was one of the few there who was doing it "like Eddy", i.e., no aero equipment. (this was actually a sub-category for the first few TTs in the series, but not this one) First race of the season for me as a bulging disc has played havoc with my plans. Seeing a PT tomorrow.
Ended up missing my goal time by about a minute, but was still comfortably several spots up from DFL. Thought I set a good pace (for me) from the start so I wouldn't blow up, but the 2nd half was 2 minutes slower. More elevation gain the back half, according to the course profile. My HRM actually was a detriment, I think, as I spent most of the time about 5-6 bpm above my threshold. Whenever it got above that, I throttled back. Shoulda paid more attention to PE instead. Dialed it up to 12 or 13 bpm above threshold towards the finish. Left a bit in the tank. Lesson learned for next time.
Oh, and of course, the BF resident soul-crushing chiropractor left everyone in his dust ... except for his teammate (R.A.), who finished with the same time. Nice job, Will!

2. i don't ever recall you posting about going on a lsd ride, or a simple fart about.
all you seem to do (or all i seem to notice?) is interval days, 2x20s, etc, etc, etc. you're the complete opposite of pcad. no wonder both of you two get frustrated with your results.

But I am with you. I need to STFD. This weekend I'm heading to a group ride that does LSDs on Saturday. They go out and enjoy the scenery and a cup of coffee after the ride.

Making a kilometer blurry
This is day four off the bike. I'm catching up on the Dr. appts for the year, and it's nice to have a reason for some time off. I'll hit it hard tomorrow and race on Thursday.

Had a 7am final this morning. Won the race to get the hell out of there. Also, totally owned a hipster on the way home.
Sub, I don't normally do those hours. And I do train with way less structure than most people that post here. I can't even remember the last time I went out to purposefully do 2x20's or something similar. Just something to think about

I've got it stuck in my head to train hard as much as possible. Maybe it's not the way to go for me.
And I understand your situation with the hours you've got planned. Especially if you have stage races coming up.

Welp, my only concern is to make every minute count. You know? Even if it is taking time off.

now, let's get back OT. this is the racing thread, not the training thread.

Did my first solo time trial...as I did not have any aero equipment, I stood out like a sore thumb...course was about 8 miles in length and it felt pretty windy...I averaged 21.9 mph...winning time was 29.1 mph...I wonder how aero helmet, bars, bike, wheels, etc. would have mattered in terms of mph...I had fun and enjoyed the pain when pushing into the wind...

Raced the Westlake Crit tonight. Rode the B race and took 3rd overall and won one prime. Won $14 for my first purse. I'm a pro now, and this 56 yr, 2nd year racer is not turning back. The best part for me was, on the finish sprint or one of the primes, I hit a max speed of 36.88 mph.

Tuesday night crit in Brooklyn. Cat 5. 5 laps of 2.3 mile circuit. First race ever. Finished in the pack, probably 8th or so of 17. Pretty slow up until the end of the last lap, no one really wanted to pull and drive the pace except for some strong Manhattan messenger type who would take flyers off the front now and then. Glad not to finish DFL or get dropped. My legs didn't have it to even get out of the saddle and pretend to sprint at the end. I think I got out of the saddle once maybe? Need to work on that, felt like they would explode if I tried that. Anyway, numbers. My power numbers seem too high, so ignore them. My legs hurt.
Dist: 11.05 mi (0:28:38)

Speed 9.0 23.2 31.1 mi/h
