Favorite Touring Songs
Well, I'm getting excited for another summer of overnighter's, weekender's and maybe a 10 day jaunt to Vancouver and back.
And in about 2 weeks, my new Surly LHT will be fully customized!
So, I'm loading up the mp3 player, any suggestions?

I don't have any favorite bicycling songs. My decision is whether to turn my mp3 player on shuffle, listen to an album straight through, or not listen to music at all. On tour I listen to music about half the time. When I do I'm choosing shuffle more and more often.

Rowan and I are loading up our MP3 players with music. I have quite a bit on mine already, and I use it at work to drown out all the conversation and chit-chat around me ... but I've been adding to it.
I suspect that by the time we've finished, all or most of our CDs will be on our MP3 players.
And as for type of music ... my taste in music is very eclectic. I like having a wide variety on an MP3 player ... something for every mood.
Rowan's taste is quite eclectic as well, so I figure between the two of us we'll be able to listen to something different for weeks before we're back to the beginning of the list again.

Dire Straits live version of Telegraph Road is like 15 mins. long, but flies because of the dynamics (fast/slow/fast/slow) and beautiful guitar work in it. Tunnel of Love by them is kind of similar.

I like to listen to music that's typical in the area I'm visiting. I'm listening to Fado now to put me in the mood for my upcoming trip to Portugal. This helps me to brush up on my Portuguese, too.

Listen to the disc ABBA Gold just before you leave and you won't need the MP3. You'll have ABBA in your brain for the entire trip, singing all their favorites, and you'll save the weight of the player.
