Aventon Solterra.2 for $1000?

This new from a dealer locally I'm not familiar with. Would this be a good deal? Seems like a decent brand, better than the throwaway bikes.

It's listed on their site and elsewhere for $799, so no. However, Aventon is a respected name among "no name" bikes. Having a dealer nearby for parts is a nice feature, but they are not charging the current sale price. There may be individuals who provide blah, blah about hub motors being low quality, but some riders have 25K miles on them.

Agreed on the price not being good.

Disagreed on Aventon being a "no-name" bike. It may be "no-name" to a regular cyclist who is thinking of typical bike shop brands over the last 50 years, but in terms of eBikes, they're a real name brand now. Very refined, good quality components and assembly, good safety certification, etc. My Aventon is definitely the nicest of all the eBikes I've had. (including Lectric, Juiced, Sailnovo, heybike, Electra, Ride1UP) OK, I admit that the Electra (owned by Trek) is just as nice, but not nearly as well-spec'd for the money.

I would ask the dealer to match the current online price so that you can support him. If he says no, just order online and know that you did your best to support the local guy. HE may have paid more, but I bet they have some agreement with Aventon to make up the difference for when they lower their prices so they don't get screwed in cases like this.
